American manufacturer Cadillac has updated its hypercar for its two-pronged championship commitments in 2026.

Next season, the&nbsp;Cadillac V-Series.R&nbsp;will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship&nbsp;with a new aero set-up. While the American hypercar retains signature design elements of the production V-Series, notable changes have been made. These include the removal of the front dive planes and winglets and a reshaped rear wing profile. The rear wing now appears to be lower as a result.

These updates are intended to boost the peak speed of the V-Series.R. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the quickest Cadillac V-Series.R (the Cadillac Whelen #311 car) reached&nbsp;345.6 kph. In comparison, the top speed for a Ferrari 499P was 349 kph&nbsp;(for the Ferrari AF Corse #50 car). The Hertz Team JOTA #12 Cadillac meanwhile peaked at 343.4 kph.

Three Cadillac V-Series.Rs are taking part in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship homologation tests today and tomorrow at the Daytona International Speedway. All feature these improvements.

Cadillac improves V-Series.R Hypercar aero for 2026

Since yesterday, PMW (Professional Motorsport World), the professional motorsport trade fair, has been taking place in Cologne, providing an opportunity to prepare for the future of competition and its applications in mobility. Hydrogen is one of the themes being presented.

In Hall 10.1 of the Cologne Exhibition Center, more than 200 booths are hosting major and minor players in motorsport from 45 countries, some with many years of experience in competition, others more recent, as specialists in a newly deployed technology. Hydrogen exemplifies this collaboration between established motorsport entities and others working to deploy their expertise on circuits around the world. MissionH24, a program between the Automobile Club de l&#39;Ouest and H24Project for the creation of a Hydrogen category in Endurance racing, was thus able to present this pioneering challenge for the decarbonization of motorsport and mobility.

Moderating a roundtable discussion, MissionH24, represented by its Technical Director Bassel Aslan, accompanied by several partners&mdash;Pierre Tipner, Engineering Sales Manager at FORVIA; Michael M&uuml;rlebach, Project Director for Bosch Motorsport; Douglas Campling, General Manager of Motorsport at Fortescue Zero; Sam Guest, Head of Telemetry, Control and Analysis, Motorsport at Motion Applied; and Jean-Baptiste Pouradier, CEO of Texys Group&mdash;shared updates on the upcoming H24EVO, the latest hydrogen-electric prototype currently under development, and the potential of hydrogen.

Numerous questions from the audience demonstrated the strong interest in this energy carrier: safety, storage in its liquid form, competitiveness, timeline, and more.

The Barrichellos Story: a father-son duo bonded by the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA has announced its driver line-ups for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season. The American manufacturer is banking on continuity and experience.

Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA ended the 2025 season in fourth place in the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Manufacturers&rsquo; Championship. Highlights of the campaign were undoubtedly a maiden victory in the 6 Hours of S&atilde;o Paulo and three pole positions, including Hyperpole at the 93rd 24 Hours of Le Mans. The outfit is banking on two talented, experienced driver line-ups to add further wins to its tally in 2026.

Alex Lynn,&nbsp;Norman Nato&nbsp;and Will Stevens scored points in every round in 2025 and will continue to&nbsp; share the wheel of the #12 <a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/the-cadillac-v-series-r-under-the-microscope-ready-to-roar-for-america-at-le-mans-59659" target="_blank">Cadillac V-Series.R</a>. 
Thirty-year-old Jack Aitken will join Earl Bamber&nbsp;and S&eacute;bastien Bourdais&nbsp;in the #38 sister car. He will take the seat vacated by Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula One world champion, who is retiring after two seasons with JOTA.

&ldquo;We&rsquo;re delighted to welcome Jack on board,&rdquo;&nbsp;said JOTA Sport director and founder David Clark.&nbsp;&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve been following his progress closely this year and have been really impressed by his raw pace and consistency &mdash; both essential ingredients for success in the Hypercar category. As an existing member of the wider Cadillac Racing driver family, Jack is a natural fit for us. He already understands the culture, the people, and the expectations within the Cadillac ecosystem. Beyond his performance on track, Jack&rsquo;s calm personality and team-first attitude make him an excellent addition to our driver line-up. We never take team chemistry for granted &mdash; six individual stars won&rsquo;t win endurance races, but six drivers who work as one can. Everything we&rsquo;ve seen from Jack so far shows he embodies that spirit, and we can&rsquo;t wait to see what he achieves with the team next season.&rdquo;

Aitken had the chance to try out the Cadillac V-Series.R in its FIA WEC set-up during the Rookie Test held the day after the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain. Next season, he will also compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with Action Express Racing.&nbsp;&ldquo;I am very appreciative that Cadillac has that trust and are willing to give me the opportunity,&rdquo; said the British racer. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s very exciting for me personally because I&rsquo;ve never raced in the WEC and I&rsquo;ve never raced with JOTA, even though we&rsquo;ve come close a couple of times and have had a relationship that is now coming to fruition. They have fantastic people &ndash; from the drivers to the staff &ndash; and it&rsquo;s a team that has had success in WEC.&nbsp; I&rsquo;m excited to try to take what I&rsquo;ve learned in IMSA at Action Express and bring that across to try to push things forward.&nbsp; I&rsquo;m excited to start the year and to double up on my time in the Cadillac V-Series.R.&rdquo;

Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA swaps Button for Aitken in 2026

Ferrari won the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ titles in today’s Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain season finale, sealing the deal in style with a triple top five finish in Sakhir.

In its third campaign in FIA WEC&rsquo;s top-tier, the legendary Italian marque has been the benchmark all year in the Hypercar class, winning the opening four races with its 499P prototype to establish an advantage that none of its rivals was ultimately able to overcome.

The result represents the Prancing Horse&rsquo;s first global endurance racing success since lifting the laurels in the World Sportscar Championship more than half-a-century ago in 1972, ending up a commanding 75 points ahead of closest competitor Toyota in the Manufacturers&rsquo; classification.

To complete Ferrari&rsquo;s joy, its three crews locked out the top three positions in the Drivers&rsquo; standings. Courtesy of a fourth-place finish in Bahrain, Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi clinched the crown behind the wheel of the #51 Ferrari AF Corse entry, having led the way since triumphing on home turf at Imola back in April.

The runner-up spoils went the way of 24 Hours of Le Mans winners Robert Kubica, Phil Hanson and Yifei Ye in the privately-run #83 AF Corse 499P, with the #50 Ferrari AF Corse crew (Antonio Fuoco, Nicklas Nielsen and Miguel Molina) taking third.

The final race of the season was won by outgoing Manufacturers&rsquo; World Champion Toyota.

In the LMGT3 class, Manthey 1st Phorm won the FIA ​​Endurance Trophy for LMGT3 teams. Riccardo Pera, Richard Lietz, and Ryan Hardwick were crowned champions in the drivers&#39; standings. They had also won at 24 Hours of Le Mans.

FIA WEC : Ferrari crowned FIA World Endurance Champions in Bahrain

The focus might have been on the title contenders, but TOYOTA GAZOO Racing reminded everybody just why the team is a multiple title-winner in the FIA World Endurance Championship by locking out the front row of the grid for the season-closing Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain (8 November).

The result replicated that achieved by the Japanese marque last year &ndash; a day before it clinched its seventh Manufacturers&rsquo; crown in the series. There might be no chance of another Toyota title 12 months on following a disappointing campaign at the international pinnacle of the discipline, but the brand has put itself in pole position to salvage its season with a podium finish if not better in tomorrow&rsquo;s race.&nbsp;

It was Kamui Kobayashi who posted the fastest lap behind the wheel of the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid Hypercar that he shares with Mike Conway and Nyck de Vries, stopping the clocks 0.151secs quicker than Brendon Hartley in the sister #8 car. That represented the Japanese star&rsquo;s 18th career pole &ndash; second on the all-time list &ndash; and on Saturday, he will seek to similarly add an 18th victory to his glittering CV.&nbsp;

&ldquo;The car felt great, the lap was great and the team did a great job,&rdquo; Kobayashi enthused. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s no secret that we&rsquo;ve had a really tough season; we&rsquo;ve struggled a lot and still haven&rsquo;t finished on the podium yet this year, but we&rsquo;ve had a lot of success with the GR010 overall and tomorrow is its last race before we update it for 2026, so we&rsquo;ll be pushing hard to come away with a win.&rdquo;

Of the championship protagonists, Antonio Giovinazzi secured seventh spot in the #51 Ferrari AF Corse 499P. Together with James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi, the Italian is aiming to lift the laurels in the Drivers&rsquo; World Championship battle in Bahrain, as they enter the final race holding a 13-point advantage at the summit of the standings over the privately-run #83 AF Corse entry.

Robert Kubica put that car 12th in the pecking order, but far worse fortune befell the #6 Porsche Penske Motorsport 963. Defending world champion K&eacute;vin Estre locked up heading into Turn One on his first flying lap, setting the tone for a frustrating session that ultimately left the red-and-white German prototype 18th and last on the Hypercar grid &ndash; an early blow to the Frenchman and team-mate Laurens Vanthoor&rsquo;s bid to turn the tables on their Ferrari rivals in the chase for the crown.

<h2>Lexus lights it up again in LMGT3&nbsp;</h2>

Finn Gehrsitz led an all Lexus and Mercedes top four lockout in LMGT3 qualifying, as title-chasing Manthey 1st Phorm struggled for speed under the fading Sakhir sun.

Gehrsitz posted two laps faster than any of his adversaries could muster in the top ten Hyperpole shootout to secure a second career pole in FIA WEC, having similarly topped the timesheets at Spa-Francorchamps back in May.

FIA WEC : Outgoing champions outshine title protagonists in Bahrain qualifying

Genesis Magma Racing is continuing work on the development of the GMR-001. The team has begun optimising the performance levels of its Hypercar in all conditions – including a wet track.

Last week,&nbsp;Genesis Magma Racing&nbsp;conducted three days of testing at Magny-Cours. The track being mostly wet, it offered the team a golden opportunity to glean precious data on the balance and behaviour of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/genesis-takes-the-wraps-of-its-gmr-001-hypercar-59196" target="_blank">GMR-001</a> in such conditions. With the systems calibrated and an initial endurance test already under its belt, Genesis was able to focus on optimising the performance levels&nbsp;of the Korean hypercar.

&ldquo;We&rsquo;re continuing to develop the GMR-001, but we are starting to think about performance,&rdquo;&nbsp;said Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini.&nbsp;&ldquo;We need to build a sort of toolbox for the set-up in all conditions, making sure the drivers are able to adjust the car to always be able to push in any conditions.&rdquo;

The four drivers already signed up to Genesis Magma Racing for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (Pipo Derani, Andr&eacute; Lotterer, Mathys Jaubert and Dani Juncadella) were present for the tests.&nbsp;&ldquo;I think we have made big progress on the systems side,&rdquo;&nbsp;Derani said.&nbsp;&ldquo;As we get to the part of the development where things have been stabilised, we can switch focus to getting the maximum from the package we have in the GMR-001 Hypercar and begin to look at performance a bit more.&rdquo;

<h2>Rain right on cue</h2>

Genesis Magma Racing had hoped to gather data on the GMR-001&rsquo;s wet-track performance and Mother Nature duly obliged on the second day.&nbsp;&ldquo;Wet weather testing is always important with any new car,&rdquo; Tarquini explained. &ldquo;We know we will face wet conditions in some races. As it could easily be the biggest race of the year, so the team and drivers need to know how the car reacts in difficult conditions.&rdquo;

Jaubert&nbsp;added:&nbsp;&ldquo;The car was really nice in the wet conditions. We did some running in damp conditions, but also when it was really wet during the night. Overall, we made a lot of systems improvements in the traction control. It&rsquo;s difficult to compare because we are the only ones on track, but the car balance feels great.&rdquo;

The relatively cool air and track temperatures also offered an excellent opportunity to build experience with&nbsp;Michelin tyres in very different weather conditions to those encountered during previous tests. Tyre warming is especially important in the Hypercar class and Genesis made the most of the sessions to put it into practice.&nbsp;&ldquo;We still want to do a lot more kilometres, but this was a very positive three days,&rdquo; Tarquini concluded. &ldquo;Everybody is happy about the car&rsquo;s behaviour in the wet, and the drivers were able to give good feedback. We had some small problems which we were fast to solve, and we know the direction to go for the next tests which will be very important.&rdquo;

With the homologation process on the GMR-001 fast approaching, Genesis reckons there is still plenty of work to do. Reliability and performance will be the targets for the final tests which will also serve as a dress rehearsal for the team&#39;s race weekend procedures in preparation for its FIA WEC d&eacute;but&nbsp;at the Qatar 1812Km (28 March 2026). By the time the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans comes around (10-14 June 2026), Genesis will hope to be in shape to take on&nbsp;Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Peugeot&nbsp;and&nbsp;Toyota.
