Add experience to impetus, and what do you get? Nico Müller is to join the Inter Europol Competition LMP2 team for the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans on 10-14 June 2026. The recruitment is a new asset for the team, already a two-time class winner.

A 24 Hours of Le Mans team is always a complex web of relations, held together by an invisible thread. It is this alchemy that turns three drivers into one crew, with a single aim: the finish line. This year, Inter Europol Competition has added Nico M&uuml;ller to the mix. He will be sharing the #343 Oreca 07-Gibson with Bijoy Garg and Reshad De Gerus. The line-up has &ldquo;we&rsquo;re out to win LMP2&rdquo; written all over it!

<h2>The voice of experience</h2>

Every detail counts in a discipline as demanding as endurance racing. A reassuring voice on the team can change the whole tone of a race. Nico M&uuml;ller knows Le Mans. A Porsche factory driver in Formula E, he has driven the Peugeot Hypercar and has the precious experience of long nights, and the crucial split-second decisions that can turn the tables.

&ldquo;I&rsquo;m super excited to be joining Inter Europol Competition [...] The 24 Hours of Le Mans is always very high on every driver&rsquo;s list,&rdquo; he says. A simple statement that suggests the attraction of Le Mans &ndash; the pull that makes you want to come back every year. M&uuml;ller isn&rsquo;t coming along for the ride. He&rsquo;s coming to play a role, to do battle.

At his side, Bijoy Garg and Reshad De Gerus already form a solid pair in the European Le Mans Series. Their mutual understanding forms a sturdy foundation to build on. &quot;Teaming up with Bijoy, the winner of the 2024 edition, and Nico, who will be a major asset thanks to his experience as a works driver in Hypercar, makes us a strong line-up,&quot; says Reshad De Gerus. The words of a calmly confident crew-member who knows what to expect.

<h2>Two cars, double the chances</h2>

Fraternity is the watchword at Inter Europol Competition: the #343 has a sister, the #43, last year&rsquo;s class winner, again in the hands of Nick Yelloly, Tom Dillmann and Kuba Śmiechowski. There&rsquo;s no harm in continuity!

Team Principal Sascha Fassbender&rsquo;s message is crystal clear: &ldquo;Adding Nico for Le Mans gives us a very strong line-up and the possibility to have two competitive cars, both able to fight for the win.&rdquo; At Le Mans, being quick is not enough. You need to be sharp, patient and stick your neck out on occasions. Two cars on the grid doubles the chances of reading the race with a clear head.

When the race starts at 16:00 on 13 June, Inter Europol Competition will be out to win again.

At home, or trackside, we&rsquo;ll be watching. Because at Le Mans, every team effort is a reminder that alone, you go fast; together you go far.

Nico Müller to instill experience at Inter Europol Competition (LMP2)

The new M24 is home to one of motorsport’s richest collections.

All 100 cars on display are in working order and all have made their mark on automotive history. They form a glorious legacy. Alongside them, visitors can contemplate rare objects such as the firesuits worn by three-time Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna and six-time Le Mans winner Jacky Ickx. Also on display, the incredible Rudge-Whitworth cup, the trophy presented to the winners of the first 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923.

A group of talented volunteers is currently putting the finishing touches to a collection of 4,800 scale models &ndash; replicas of all the cars that have taken part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 1923.

<h2>M24 &ndash; a museum in motion</h2>

Aptly located at the entrance to the circuit, the M24 celebrates living heritage. The wealth of its collections &ndash; dating from the late 19th century to the present day &ndash; and the sheer size of the project set it apart.

As a tourist attraction, the M24 is the place to go to grasp the importance of the race and its spellbinding influence. As a vector for emotion, the M24 passes on the passion for racing to visitors all year round.

The M24 is an immersive experience, unashamedly focused on motion and emotion. It houses the exceptional cars that are the heart and soul of a century of motorsport, in which fates were sealed, battled won and lost, and legacies built. The diverse content caters for a wide cross-section of visitors, from petrolheads to the unitiated seeing the sights of Le Mans.

M24 – Motorsport Museum : a unique collection

Some names evoke memories of bygone times. Others offer a peek into the future. By branding its hypercar “MCL-HY”, McLaren is not merely checking another box on its comeback trail. The British manufacturer is weaving an emotional thread linking 1995 to 2027... and beyond.

<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/2025-24-hours-of-le-mans-mclaren-introduces-the-world-to-its-hypercar-59772" target="_blank">McLaren Racing&rsquo;s return to the pinnacle of endurance</a>&nbsp;now has a name.&nbsp; The future hypercar that will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship, including showcase event the 24 Hours of Le Mans, from 2027 will be known as the McLaren MCL-HY. More than a simple code, it is a signature that identifies a direction and states a clear ambition: to reconnect with the Absolute.

<h2>MCL-HY&nbsp;&ndash; a legacy behind each letter</h2>

&ldquo;MCL&rdquo;: three letters that immediately strike a chord with Formula One fans. &ldquo;HY&rdquo;: two letters that instantly identify the car&rsquo;s era &ndash; Hypercar, the summit of endurance racing since 2021. Together, they emphasise McLaren&rsquo;s commitment to the FIA WEC.

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans, nothing ever truly disappears. Each triumph leaves a mark; each car becomes a legend. Utter this new name and one cannot help but hear an echo of the iconic <a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/the-mclaren-f1-gtr-at-le-mans-1-key-dates-1995-1998-45631" target="_blank">McLaren F1 GTR</a> that made a winning d&eacute;but in 1995. A legendary lightning strike. The MCL-HY cannot erase the past but can aim to follow in its tracks.

<h2>All sights on 2027</h2>

The name is a foundation stone. On 4 May, McLaren will unveil the car and its test livery. However, the essentials are already laid. These five letters are a silent promise to return to Le Mans and its nocturnal magic, where headlights sear through the darkness &ndash; a moment suspended in time where everything becomes possible.

Le Mans is not just a race like no other, it&rsquo;s a language too. And with the MCL-HY, McLaren has opted to speak it once more.

With a century of racing already on the clock, the icon of motorsport unveils a new brand design reflecting its singularity as a complete, universal, cultural event.

Today, the Automobile Club de l&rsquo;Ouest (ACO) begins writing a new chapter in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, introducing new branding, designed with frog, part of Capgemini, a global creative consulting agency specializing in business model reinvention and experience strategies.

The message &ndash;&nbsp;Drive your destiny&nbsp;&ndash; takes the race into a new era where limits continue to be pushed, power sustained and humanity celebrated.

<h2>A roadmap set out by the ACO</h2>

The new branding is part of ACO&rsquo;s overall growth strategy to build on the race&rsquo;s international reputation while remaining true to its soul. With over 300,000 spectators, the 24 Hours of Le Mans gathers people from all over the world and its new branding matches its status as an iconic annual event that transcends the frontiers of motorsport.

The core of the new identity is &ldquo;La Trace&rdquo;, a resolutely contemporary, intensely sensorial visual language that encapsulates motion, emotion and the ritual associated with the event. La Trace&nbsp;is a conversation between heritage and innovation, symbolising an intention of forward movement and a lasting imprint. It represents the unique experience of each person who encounters the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and captures the tension, the pace and the depth of emotion that define the race.

With the new branding, the 24 Hours of Le Mans can express itself coherently and with renewed vigour across all its physical and digital touch points, before during and after the event.

<h2>More than a race: a cultural phenomenon</h2>

These choices underline the singularity of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in worldwide sport and culture. The event no longer defines itself as the world&rsquo;s greatest endurance race, rather as a shared experience, constantly in step with change &ndash; a cultural phenomenon that connects generations and leaves a lasting mark.

The redesign comes as the ACO pursues the ambitious growth of the 24 Hours of Le Mans ecosystem, the modernisation of the circuit and its infrastructure, the addition of off-track events and catering for a wider, more diverse spectator base.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans reveals a new brand identity

The ACO is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. Thanks to the increasing popularity of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the city’s pivotal role in automotive history, the idea of a museum sparked discussion shortly after World War II. The project came to fruition in 1961, within the circuit grounds.

<h2>An innovative project</h2>

By the late fifties the Automobile Club de l&rsquo;Ouest was <a href="https://www.lemans.org/en/news/aco/the-aco-s-120th-anniversary-post-war-reconstruction-60400">a prominent feature of the French sports scene</a>. The club had been defending motorists&rsquo; interests since 1906 and organised a major endurance race each year. European car makes reigned supreme at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the time, and the race attracted drivers from all round the world.

Jean-Marie Leli&egrave;vre, who was elected chairman of the ACO in 1951, was keen to continue his predecessors&rsquo; work by extending the grounds. An automotive museum was suggested. They were rare at the time. After all, as home to the Boll&eacute;e family, Le Mans had pioneered the industry and so it was a perfectly legitimate initiative. The club began by organising a vintage car show to celebrate the ACO&rsquo;s 50th anniversary, in 1956. The event was such a success that Jean-Marie Leli&egrave;vre decided to build a museum at the circuit, to salute &ldquo;the story of the century&rdquo;. His idea was to conserve the unique heritage of the race and prevent old models from disappearing into oblivion. Local collectors were in favour, which was encouraging.

However, the ACO needed government backing. The museum opened just before the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 8 June 1961 in the presence of the Minister of Information Louis Terrenoire, having secured support from the Prefect of La Sarthe Pierre-Marcel Wiltzer, and the d&eacute;partement, represented by Fran&ccedil;ois de Nicola&yuml;. The 1100 m&sup2; building housing 65 vehicles was located near the race village. Racegoers could now enjoy the present in the light of the past.

<h2>A museum in motion</h2>

Leli&egrave;vre&rsquo;s project increased the prestige of the race, confirming Le Mans&rsquo; status as capital of French motoring. Just like the race, the museum has never ceased to evolve, undergoing frequent modernisations. In the late 1980s, the d&eacute;partement of La Sarthe built a new complex, just outside the circuit, at the main gate. Architect St&eacute;phane Barbotin&rsquo;s design gave rise to a 4000m&sup2; building, which still exists today. The museography evolved periodically. From 2009, it focused on the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In 2016, the Automobile Club de l&rsquo;Ouest acquired the museum and it took on a new dimension. Thanks to the club&rsquo;s heritage department the number of visitors has been increasing ever since. The visit was divided into two pathways: general, and endurance racing. In 2023, the Centenary year, the museum housed a special exhibition featuring most of the models that had made their mark on the race since it begun. Footfall tripled within a few years, reaching 208,500 visitors in 2023. For racegoers, a visit to the museum is a must. Temporary exhibitions featuring major manufacturers, such as Ferrari, Alpine and McLaren are popular with fans.

<h2>M24 &ndash; Motorsport Museum, a new era begins</h2>

A little earlier, in 2022, the ACO had hatched a huge plan. Pierre Fillon, ACO President and Richard Mille founded a company, MACO, to build a massive extension to the museum and expand the collections to include other motorsport disciplines. And so, work began on <a href="https://www.m24-musee.com/en/">M24</a>. The challenge was to keep the museum open until after the 2025 Le Mans Classic in early July and reopen it before the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans! It will be ready in time. M24 will open its doors at 10 a.m. on 28 May. In the meantime, a temporary museum has been located on the other side of the circuit.

The new museum, which comprises a brand new wing designed by architect Fr&eacute;d&eacute;ric Audevard celebrates not only the 24 Hours of Le Mans but includes other disciplines too. Formula One, rally, rally-raid, IndyCar and Can-Am are all part of the immersive M24 experience. MACO turned to specialist scenographers The Immersers to transport visitors on a journey through time. The entire history of the race is recounted in parallel to the 24 hour-long event, starting with scrutineering and ending with the finish line. Along the way, visitors admire the magnificent collection of cars. Every aspect of the race is explored, from the innovative spirit to the preparation behind the scenes and the tension of the starting ceremony. MACO set out, not just to display 100 vehicles and keep them in good condition, but to bring them alive.

The ACO has been inventing and reinventing since 1906 and applies the principle across the board, including to the museum. M24 &ndash; Motorsport Museum, which opens soon, attains its goal to set the new standard for automotive museums.

Toyota celebrated its 100th FIA World Endurance Championship appearance with an incredible 50th victory in the 2026 curtain-raising contest at Imola today, following an enthralling nip-and-tuck duel with home favourite Ferrari.

In front of a record Imola attendance of&nbsp;92,175 enthusiastic fans, the start was given by Formula 1 World Championship leader,&nbsp;Kimi Antonelli, and&nbsp;Ferrari&nbsp;delighted the ever-devoted tifosi by running first and second early on.

Having dropped to third at lights-out, the&nbsp;#8 Toyota&nbsp;piloted by&nbsp;Brendon Hartley&nbsp;regained second place during the opening round of pit-stops. The next time the heavily-revised&nbsp;TR010 Hybrid&nbsp;pulled into its box &ndash; just before the two-hour mark &ndash; Toyota elected not to change tyres in order to seize track position, catapulting&nbsp;Ryō Hirakawa&nbsp;past&nbsp;Alessandro Pier Guidi&nbsp;in the&nbsp;#51 Ferrari&nbsp;into the lead.

What ensued was a memorable face-off between the reigning world championship-winning marque and the most successful brand in the series&rsquo; history, with&nbsp;S&eacute;bastien Buemi&nbsp;in the leading TR010 Hybrid ultimately taking the chequered flag just over 13 seconds clear.

<h2>McLaren&rsquo;s pain is BMW&rsquo;s gain</h2>

In&nbsp;LMGT3,&nbsp;Team WRT&nbsp;extended BMW&rsquo;s excellent record at Imola, as the Belgian squad benefitted from late heartbreak for series newcomer&nbsp;Garage 59&nbsp;to triumph for the second time in three years in Italy ahead of TF Sport. The&nbsp;#69 BMW&nbsp;crossed the finish line barely 0.25secs in front of the&nbsp;#33 Corvette, after the pole-sitting&nbsp;#10 McLaren&nbsp;suffered alternator failure while on-course for victory just half-an-hour from the end.

The 2026 campaign continues with the&nbsp;TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps&nbsp;in Belgium on&nbsp;7-9 May.

Toyota takes 50th win in milestone 100th start

YART-Yamaha Official EWC Team has won the 49th edition of the 24 Heures Motos. At the end of a thrilling race marked by a very high pace and a record attendance of 76,700 spectators, it is the Yamaha YZF-R1 #1 that takes victory. Ridden by Karel Hanika, Marvin Fritz and Leandro Mercado, it gives Yamaha a sixth win at the Le Mans endurance classic. The Austrian outfit claims a second consecutive victory and the third in its history.

The 24 Heures Motos have given birth to legends. Each edition has revealed champions, and every on-track moment has tested character. Here, competitors discover what they are truly capable of. To win this 49th edition, Karel Hanika, Marvin Fritz and Leandro Mercado, riders of the Yamaha #1 from YART-Yamaha Official EWC Team, had to deliver a flawless performance to beat Suzuki, BMW, Kawasaki and Honda.

Although the blue machine started with a fuel consumption disadvantage compared to its rivals, its riders compensated by setting a very high race pace. What commands respect is that their path to victory was free of mistakes and was on pace for a distance record.

BMW dreamed of becoming the first European manufacturer to win the 24 Heures Motos with the M1000RR #37 of the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team. The Belgian outfit even led the race until the 17th hour. That is when things unraveled due to traction control issues. Then Michael van der Mark (four-time Suzuka 8 Hours winner) crashed while overtaking a lapped machine. The Dutch rider had hoped to follow in the footsteps of his father, Henk, winner in 1984 with Suzuki. A beautiful story that nearly was. Finally, with 1 hour 44 minutes remaining, the Hyperbike suffered another mechanical issue. The German brand finished 23rd.

In the Suzuki camp, after a 2025 edition marked by six crashes and the loss of the world endurance title by a single point (to YART-Yamaha), the 49th edition was approached with a spirit of revenge. Yoshimura SERT Motul relied on its proven GSX-R 1000 to make the difference. But reliability alone is not enough. To aim higher, the team needed more pace, those crucial tenths that decide races. This is where things became difficult. 
The Japanese squad ultimately finished second (five laps behind the winning Yamaha), focusing on the championship standings. A new machine is already in preparation for next year, with unchanged ambition: to continue building its legacy and strengthen its status as the most successful manufacturer in 24 Heures Motos history, targeting a 16th victory.

Kawasaki secured third place. Kawasaki Webike Trickstar entered a new ZX-10R featuring a revised aerodynamic package with large wings, along with updated chassis geometry. These upgrades were not enough to match Yamaha and BMW, but showed promising potential and strong resilience. 
Special mention goes to Gr&eacute;gory Leblanc, five-time 24 Heures Motos winner, who lost ten kilos to reduce the weight gap with his teammates due to setup requirements.

The major absentee from the podium was Honda. The CBR 1000 RR-R #5 of F.C.C. TSR Honda France was clearly in contention early in the race before Corentin Perolari crashed after the 21-hour mark. The Japanese team finished 12th, 40 laps behind the winners.

As in 2025, the best independent team at the finish was the BMW M1000RR #6 from ERC Endurance #6. Ridden by Marcel Schr&ouml;tter, Kenny Foray and David Checa, it finished fourth. The BMW #76 of AutoRace Ube Racing Team completed the top five. This Japanese outfit was competing in its first 24-hour race and benefited from the experience of Sylvain Guintoli, double winner of the event. It is expected to return in 2027 with strong ambitions.

<h2>BMW wins Superstock category</h2>

In the Superstock category, no fewer than ten teams were in contention for victory. National Motos Honda FMA aimed for a historic third consecutive win at Le Mans, but the Honda #55 retired after engine failure following 613 laps and 19 hours of racing.

Despite taking pole position, the&nbsp;BMW #25&nbsp;of&nbsp;Team &Eacute;toile&nbsp;could not capitalize due to at least three crashes, finishing 13th with regrets.

Ultimately, it was the&nbsp;BMW #38&nbsp;of&nbsp;Champion-HERT Powered by MRP&nbsp;that took victory.&nbsp;B&aacute;lint Kov&aacute;cs,&nbsp;Jan B&uuml;hn,&nbsp;Loris Cresson&nbsp;and&nbsp;M&aacute;t&eacute; Sz&aacute;mad&oacute;&nbsp;won ahead of the&nbsp;Honda #44&nbsp;of&nbsp;Honda No Limits&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Honda #27&nbsp;of&nbsp;TRT27 AZ Moto. Third place was a strong result for team manager&nbsp;Eric Tan&eacute;sie, celebrating&nbsp;30 years in endurance racing.

<h2>Yamaha also wins Production category</h2>

The 2026 edition marked the second year of the Production category, featuring machines close to road bikes. Eleven motorcycles were on the grid.

The Yamaha #96 of Legacy Comp&eacute;tition and the Kawasaki #42 of Green Team 42 Lyc&eacute;e Sainte-Claire and #199 of ARTEC 199 fought for the lead. The turning point came late in the morning when the leading Kawasaki #42 suffered a chain failure. The Yamaha #96, ridden by Jordy Manneveau, Pierre Gelas, Ludovic Hauser and Jonathan Hugot, inherited the lead and went on to win. The Kawasaki #42 finished second, ahead of the Honda #531 of MANA-AU Comp&eacute;tition.

Sixty machines started. Twenty-four hours later, only 40 saw the chequered flag. Night conditions, fatigue and incidents once again highlighted the harshness of the event. For many amateurs, simply being on the grid is already an achievement. Finishing the race, regardless of position, feels like a hard-earned victory.

The next round of the FIM EWC World Endurance Championship will be the 8 Hours of Spa Motos. The race will take place on Saturday, June 6.
