On Sunday&nbsp;14 June at&nbsp;16:00, Toyota Racing&#39;s #7&nbsp;GR010 Hybrid claimed the top step on the overall podium.&nbsp;Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and&nbsp;Nyck de Vries brought&nbsp;home a sixth win for the Japanese carmaker after shutting down&nbsp;fierce competition from&nbsp;Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Genesis and&nbsp;Peugeot in the Hypercar class.

The&nbsp;2026 24 Hours&nbsp;also saw Inter Europol Competition crowned champions in LMP2 with the&nbsp;crew of the #43 ORECA&nbsp;07-Gibson securing their second consecutive victory in&nbsp;the class. TF Sport triumphed&nbsp;in LMGT3 thanks to&nbsp;the #33 Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R.

2026 24 Hours of Le Mans – Watch the full race replay on YouTube!

The #29 Oreca 07-Gibson entered by Forestier Racing by Panis and driven by Louis Rousset, Oliver Gray and Esteban Masson claimed victory in the 2026 4 Hours of Imola, the third round of the European Le Mans Series. The French team secured its second win of the season, finishing ahead of United Autosports and Algarve Pro Racing.

Round 3 of the 2026 European Le Mans Series was held under blue skies and high temperatures at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari with Esteban Masson taking the chequered flag at the end of the 4 Hours of Imola in the #29 Forestier Racing by Panis Oreca-Gibson, over 50 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.&nbsp; 
 
Vector Sport took their first even ELMS class victory, with Jen Reno Moller, Cem B&ouml;l&uuml;kbaşı and Lorenzo Fluxa standing on the top of the LMP2 Pro/Am podium. Fluxa crossed the line just 4.1 seconds ahead of Malthe Jakobsen in the no20 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca, with the no21 United Autosports Oreca finishing third. 
 
CLX Motorsport secured their first LMP3 victory since Portim&atilde;o last season, with the reigning champions dominating the category. Louis Iglesias completed a perfect ELMS debut weekend after claiming pole yesterday and the French driver took the chequered flag early 30 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. He was joined on the class podium by reigning ELMS LMP3 champion Paul Lanch&egrave;re and Alexander Jacoby. The no5 Rinaldi Racing Ligier and the no8 Team Virage Ligier completed the podium. 
 
Reigning LMGT3 champions TF Sport got their title defence back on track with a perfect 26-point haul in Imola. American drivers Blake McDonald and Alec Udell took the victory alongside their Irish teammate Charlie Eastwood on the same weekend as the 250th birthday of the United States of America, in an American car the Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R. Eastwood finished the race 1.8 seconds ahead of Maxime Martin in the no62 Team Qatar by Iron Lynx Mercedes-AMG, with the no77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 in third spot.&nbsp; 
 
The next race on the calendar is the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on Sunday 23 August, which will be Round 4 of the 2026 European Le Mans Series.

ELMS: Forestier Racing by Panis Wins the 2026 4 Hours of Imola

Le At the end of 24 hours of racing, comprising three races per class, Le Mans Classic Legend had revealed all its insights. This edition was marked by a spectacular show: nearly 350 models took to the track, and 104 clubs brought together around 3,200 cars on display around the track in front of nearly 160,000 spectators.

Le Mans Classic Legend left no one unmoved. The presence of modern endurance racing legends (from 1970 to the present day) was complemented by numerous activities in the village, as well as outstanding concerts (&Eacute;tienne de Cr&eacute;cy, Superbus, Bon Entendeur). Following this tribute to recent history, the date has been set for 1&ndash;4 July 2027 for another exceptional event: Le Mans Classic Heritage.

The parades and demonstrations gave the public the chance to see &ndash; or see again &ndash; the legendary Mazda 787B, winner of the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans, and, above all, to hear it; the sound of its four-rotor engine has ensured its place in history. On Sunday morning, the M24 &ndash; Motorsport Museum, which celebrates the history of motorsport in its entirety, brought out rare models from its collections. Amongst others, visitors were able to admire the Bentley 3 Litre, winner of the 1924 24 Hours, a Porsche 917K, a Shelby Daytona Coupe, and a Ford GT40.

Here are the results for grids 6 to 10, as well as those for the support races.

<h2>GRID 6</h2>

Grid 6 of Le Mans Classic Legend brought together iconic models from 1972 to 1984. Maxime GUENAT, in the 1976 Lola T286 #1, capitalised on a minor mistake made by a rival to win quite comfortably in the first race, held on Saturday at 4 pm. This gave him a significant advantage for the rest of the weekend. Jan MAGNUSSEN, class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, alongside Chris WARD, took their revenge in the second race in their 1973 Lola T292 #70, but GUENAT was hot on their heels. Finally, in the third race, GUENAT repeated the feat, this time ahead of the TOJ SC304 driven by MILLE and SCEMAMA. He therefore won the overall classification thanks to his consistency.

Grid 7 showcased endurance cars from the 1980s and early 1990s &ndash; the golden age of Group C, the category that gave rise to some of the most legendary prototypes. Olivier GALANT had masterfully dominated the first race at the wheel of the 1990 Nissan R90CK #1, but a problem during the second race saw him drop quite far down the order. Ivan VERCOUTERE and Ralf KELLENERS took advantage of this in the 1990 Porsche 962 C #7, securing victory at the end of a nail-biting race against another Porsche 962 C, the #00 driven by Klaus ABBELEN. The pair repeated the feat in the decider, this time ahead of Olivier GALANT and his Nissan. Over the combined race times, ABBELEN &ndash; the only driver to have finished all three races in the top three &ndash; came out on top.

Next, it was grid 8&rsquo;s turn to tackle the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. The class featured a wide variety of cars built between 1994 and 1999. In the first race, it was Olivier GALANT, at the wheel of the 1999 Panoz LMP-1 Roadster S #1, who got the better of his rivals. He was followed by Emmanuel COLLARD in the #61 1995 McLaren F1 GTR. The order was the same in Race 2, but the results do not tell the whole story. Brothers Loris and Mike HEZEMANS, in the 1997 Lotus Elise GT1 #43, were contenders in every race, but suffered various problems. During the final race, it was Olivier GALANT&rsquo;s turn to suffer a breakdown, leaving the field open for Emmanuel COLLARD, who has 25 appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans to his name. Thanks to his two earlier victories, Olivier GALANT was nevertheless declared the overall winner at the end of the three rounds.

<h2>GRID 9</h2>

It felt like a treat for those nostalgic for the early 21st century: Grid 9 brought together prototypes and GT cars from 2000 to 2010. The sound, the looks &ndash; it had it all. Just as in qualifying, it was the 2002 Ascari KZR-1 #21 that stood out in the first race, thanks to the talent of Sam HANCOCK and Oliver HART. The duo won by the narrowest of margins against Christian ALBRECHT&rsquo;s 2002 Audi R8 LMP #5, leaving the door open to all possibilities for the remaining races. HANCOCK and HART shone once more at night, again ahead of Christian ALBRECHT, who this time was a little further behind.

Everything was set to be decided in the final race on Sunday morning; and what a race it was. The #21 Ascari immediately took the lead but was closely followed by the 2002 Dome S101 #15 driven by Ivan VERCOUTERE and Alex M&Uuml;LLER. The two engaged in a battle for the ages, but after the pit stops, the Dome had built up a comfortable lead. Behind them, HANCOCK and HART were pushing hard to close the gap, and their strategy was paying off. Just as the Ascari was about to overtake the Dome at Mulsanne on the final lap, the latter suffered a major mechanical failure. HANCOCK and HART thus secured a sensational victory, completing a treble this weekend. Joe MACARI and Dario FRANCHITTI finished second in the final race in the #46 2005 Maserati MC12 GT1, whilst Gregor FISKEN (#008 2006 Aston Martin DBR9) completed the podium.

<h2>GRID 10</h2>

One of the main attractions of Le Mans Classic Legend could be summed up in four words: Legends of Le Mans. This exceptional line-up featured some of the most memorable modern cars from 2006 to 2020. As usual, it was a spectacular event from start to finish.

As the last rays of sunlight followed the competitors to the start of Race 1, Christian ALBRECHT pulled clear. He was driving the 2008 Lola Aston Martin DBR1-2 #008 and wasted no time in building up a lead. Philip KADOORIE, in the &lsquo;sister car&rsquo; &ndash; the 2009 Lola Aston Martin DBR1-2 #009 &ndash; was also a force to be reckoned with. However, he incurred a penalty for speeding under yellow flags. Christian ALBRECHT won this first race by just over thirty seconds ahead of Michel FREY, at the wheel of the #5 2007 Lola B07/18. Alfie BRIGGS (2001 Lola B11/83 #33) followed.

At daybreak, the entrants in Class 10 were back in action. In these conditions, Philip KADOORIE, still in the #009, got the better of his rivals. At the end of the nine-lap race, he had gained nearly thirty seconds on his main rival and third-placed driver, Christian ALBRECHT. Michel FREY, in the #5 Lola, slotted in between the two. The final race was therefore decisive.

The long-awaited battle on the track took place on Sunday at midday. Christian ALBRECHT and Philip KADOORIE battled it out for 11 laps, constantly swapping positions. This duel between naturally aspirated V12s left an permanent mark on Le Mans Classic Legend. In the end, Christian ALBRECHT emerged victorious, beating Philip KADOORIE by less than five seconds. Behind them was Shaun LYNN in the #4 2008 Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. Overall, ALBRECHT was the clear winner of this memorable weekend of racing.

<h2>HSR Nascar Classic by Goodyear</h2>

The first round of the HSR NASCAR Classic by Goodyear was eagerly anticipated by all the fans at the venue. Fittingly, the first NASCAR race at Le Mans took place on the day of the United States&rsquo; 250th birthday. The drivers put on a spectacular show for the occasion, led by the 2004 series champion, Kurt BUSCH, in the 2020 NASCAR Chevrolet Camaro #1A, who launched a series of attacks. Andrew JORDAN (2011 Toyota Camry #15A) and Joe NEMECHECK (2010 Toyota Camry #47) also distinguished themselves at the top of the standings.

After several epic battles, BUSCH, ROBERTS and JORDAN &ndash; who had led from the very first lap &ndash; suffered a series of setbacks. An incredible turnaround allowed JC France, in the 2014 NASCAR Chevrolet Camaro #24A, to beat Nigel ARMSTRONG (2007 NASCAR CoT Toyota Camry #44) by less than a second. Ryan GEMMELL crossed the line in third place at the wheel of his 2002 NASCAR Chevrolet Monte Carlo #55.

The second race took place on Sunday morning, already under a clear blue sky. Ryan GEMMELL quickly took the lead, but was caught by one of the drivers who&rsquo;d been unlucky the previous day, Andrew JORDAN. Once again, it was a tight contest all the way, but it was JORDAN who came out on top, two seconds ahead of Ryan GEMMELL. One moment left all the spectators speechless: coming out of the final bend, Kurt BUSCH managed to overtake JC France to take third place. Just 11 thousandths of a second separated them at the finish of this second race.

A third race was scheduled to bring Le Mans Classic Legend to a close. Andrew JORDAN immediately pulled clear once again, gradually extending his lead over his closest rivals. Behind him, however, the battle was in full swing. Kurt BUSCH, Joe NEMECHEK, Nigel ARMSTRONG and JC FRANCE were locked in a fierce battle. But a series of incidents, which notably affected Kurt BUSCH, calmed things down. Andrew JORDAN secured a second consecutive victory, ahead of Joe NEMECHEK and David ROBERTS.

<h2>GT3 Revival Series</h2>

The first race, held this Saturday morning, saw competitors in the GT3 Revival Series go head-to-head to mark the 20th anniversary of the GT3 category&rsquo;s creation. Thanks to an excellent start, Heiko NEUMANN, in his Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 #65, quickly pulled away, but Alvaro PARENTE, at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS Ultra #47, had other ideas. It was a spectacular battle, but NEUMANN held on to first place.

A mandatory pit stop was due. As he slowed down to enter the pits, PARENTE, caught off guard, crashed into the back of NEUMANN&rsquo;s car. Both cars sustained fairly significant cosmetic damage, and whilst the Mercedes-Benz was able to get back on track fairly quickly, the Audi R8 was held up for some time for further repairs. Benjamin RICCI, in the Ferrari 458 GT3 Evo #10, took advantage of this to take the lead, which he held until the chequered flag was waved. Heiko NEUMANN finished second, ahead of Jonathan MITCHELL and his Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 #007.

In the second race, Heiko NEUMANN got off to an equally strong start, attempting to extend his lead over Jonathan MITCHELL and Benjamin RICCI. But after the pit stop, MITCHELL took first place. NEUMANN did try to fight back, but MITCHELL was simply too quick in the second half of the race. MITCHELL finished first, NEUMANN second and RICCI third.

<h2>Porsche Classic Cup</h2>

The Porsche Classic Cup sees Porsche Cup cars from all generations &ndash; from the 944 Turbo to the 996 GT3 &ndash; go head-to-head. This series, which continues to uphold the German manufacturer&rsquo;s legacy through one-make championships organised around the world, is being celebrated today at Le Mans Classic Legend. During the race, Ivan REGGIANI (1999 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup #196) pulled clear of his rivals right from the start, keeping Henrik BOLLERSLEV (2004 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup #76) at a safe distance.

After a flurry of pit stops, Andrew JORDAN (2002 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup #10) stepped up a gear and overtook Henrik BOLLERSLEV to claim second place. Following the leader&rsquo;s pit stop, JORDAN even took the lead. Andrew was sharing the driving with his father Mike; the pair, who had dominated qualifying the day before, went on to secure a fairly comfortable victory. Mike and Andrew JORDAN took the win, ahead of Henrik BOLLERSLEV and the duo of Charles KAUFFMAN and Ivan REGGIANI in the #996.

<h2>Berlinetta Challenge</h2>

The Berlinetta Challenge is a superb field made of Ferrari Challenge cars from various generations, ranging from the 1993 348s to the 2011 458 Italia. The Ferrari Challenge championship, first established in 1993, is a one-make series that is now successful all over the world, with series in the UK, Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia/South-East Asia.

The sole race held on Saturday evening was unfortunately cut short due to an oil leak between Arnage and the Porsche bend. Joe MACARI, in the 2006 Ferrari F430 Challenge #12, started from pole position and was never under threat. Blake ROSSER, in the 2008 F430 Challenge #43, crossed the finish line in second place, less than two seconds behind, ahead of the duo Philippe RAFFIN and Jos&eacute; BELTRAMELLI at the wheel of the 2007 F430 Challenge #430.

A look back at the first edition of Le Mans Legend

Le Mans Classic Legend is underway! At 4 pm, three-time world skiing champion Alexis Pinturault flagged off this year’s event under a bright sunshine. The five racing series and supporting races will run one after the other until 4 pm on Sunday, before giving way to podium ceremonies and other celebrations.

Whilst yesterday was dedicated to the qualifiers, both Saturday and Sunday are reserved for racing. Over the course of a full day, competitors in grids 6 to 10 will battle it out, day and night, with three races per grid. Of course, support races are also part of the program, as are spectacular parades featuring club cars, Supercars, Gordon Murray&rsquo;s road cars and prototypes, Porsches and BMWs. The second appearance of the legendary Mazda 787B at 6.05 pm was not to be missed; once again, the unique sound of its rotary engine left no one unmoved.

Shortly before 2 pm, the crowd was treated to a magnificent spectacle; in keeping with tradition, the young participants from Little Big Mans took part in a Le Mans-style start, before taking to the track for a timeless moment in their miniature replicas of the Ford GT40, AC Cobra and Lamborghini Countach. No fewer than 45 children ran from one end of the court to the other when Matthew Knoesen, the wheelchair tennis prodigy, uttered these words: &ldquo;On your marks&hellip; go!&rdquo;. As usual, everyone was captivated by this deeply touching scene. This spectacle has a unique impact that cannot be found anywhere else.

Grid 6 kicks off this first edition of Le Mans Classic Legend. Following the mass start led by Alexis Pinturault, the 1976 TOJ SC304 #22 driven by Yves SCEMAMA/Richard MILLE and the 1976 Lola T286 #1 driven by Maxime GUENAT immediately pulled clear. Jan MAGNUSSEN&rsquo;s 1973 Lola T292 #70 distinguished itself in third place with some remarkable overtakes, but lost ground on the straights due to its less powerful engine. Whilst the top two were locked in a fierce battle, Yves SCEMAMA made a mistake coming out of the second Mulsanne Straight chicane, leaving the field open for Maxime GUENAT and his Lola. GUENAT won this first race, ahead of Jamie CONSTABLE in the 1974 Chevron B26 #199. Jan MAGNUSSEN was handed a one lap penalty for failing to pit at the correct time. Tony SINCLAIR, Sam YATES and their 1973 Lola T292 #85 therefore took third place.

Off the track, there&rsquo;s still a lot of things to do. You simply can&rsquo;t miss the M24 &ndash; Motorsport Museum &ndash; and its collections, which cover the entire history of motorsports and more, all housed in a stunning new venue that opened less than two months ago. Film buffs can treat themselves to a good film at the MK2 Drive-In, which screens movies with a motoring theme, such as Taxi 2 or C&rsquo;&eacute;tait un rendez-vous. There&rsquo;s also an exhibition of iconic cars featured in films, including the DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future and the Ford Mustang &lsquo;Eleanor&rsquo; from Gone in 60 seconds. Between the arcade zone, the &lsquo;Spirit of Speed&rsquo; motorbike exhibition and all the car clubs, there&rsquo;s something to please young and old alike.

The atmosphere at Le Mans Classic Legend leaves no one out; everyone is invited to take part in this celebration of motor racing. In the village, which is also bustling with activity, you can extend the experience by hunting for the last few diecast models missing from your collection, or finding rare items linked to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As darkness falls, the atmosphere changes; Le Mans takes on a more intimate feel. No doubt many fans will be supporting France tonight against Paraguay in the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match planned at 11 pm will, of course, be shown at the circuit&rsquo;s venue, providing an opportunity to share in this major sporting event. To go with this very special moment, three concerts are on the program. At 8 pm, Baccus takes to the decks, before handing the main stage over to Superbus for an exceptional show starting at 10.30 pm. Finally, at midnight, the french band Bon Entendeur will keep the party going until the early hours.

On the track, the first support races produced the following results. All that remains is the Berlinetta Challenge race, which takes place this evening from 7.45 pm.

<h2>Race 1: GT3 Revival Series</h2>

The first race, held on Saturday morning, saw competitors in the GT3 Revival Series go head-to-head to mark the 20th anniversary of the GT3 category&rsquo;s creation. Thanks to a superb start, Heiko NEUMANN, in his #65 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, quickly pulled away, but Alvaro PARENTE, at the wheel of the #47 Audi R8 LMS Ultra were not having any of it. It was a spectacular battle, but NEUMANN held on to the lead.

A mandatory pit stop was required. Whilst slowing down to enter the pits, PARENTE, caught off guard, crashed into NEUMANN from behind. Both cars sustained fairly significant cosmetic damage, and whilst the Mercedes-Benz was able to get back on track fairly quickly, the Audi R8 was held up in the pit lane for some time. Benjamin RICCI, in the #10 Ferrari 458 GT3 Evo, took advantage of the situation to take the lead, which he held until the checkered flag was waved. This highly eventful first race left no one unmoved. Heiko NEUMANN finished second, ahead of Jonathan MITCHELL and his #007 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3.

<h2>Race 1: Porsche Classic Cup</h2>

The Porsche Classic Cup sees Porsche Cup cars from all generations competing against one another, from the 944 Turbo to the 996 GT3. This series, which continues to uphold the German manufacturer&rsquo;s legacy through one-make championships organized around the world, is being celebrated today at Le Mans Classic Legend. In the first race, Ivan REGGIANI (1999 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup #196) got the better of his rivals and kept Henrik BOLLERSLEV (2004 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup #76) at a safe distance.

After a flurry of pit stops, Andrew JORDAN (2002 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup #10) pulled away and overtook Henrik BOLLERSLEV to take second place. Following the race leader&rsquo;s pit stop, JORDAN even took the lead. Andrew shared the driving duties with his father Mike; the pair secured a fairly comfortable victory, having dominated qualifying the day before. Mike and Andrew JORDAN took the win, ahead of Henrik BOLLERSLEV and the duo of Charles KAUFFMAN and Ivan REGGIANI in the #996.

<h2>Race 1: HSR NASCAR Classic by Goodyear</h2>

The first race of the HSR NASCAR Classic by Goodyear was eagerly awaited by all the fans at the venue. Fittingly, the first NASCAR race at Le Mans took place on the 250th anniversary of the United States. The drivers put on a spectacular show for the occasion, led by the 2004 series champion, Kurt BUSCH, in the #1A 2020 Chevrolet Camaro NASCAR, who launched a series of attacks. Andrew JORDAN (2011 Toyota Camry #15A) and Joe NEMECHECK (2010 Toyota Camry #47) also distinguished themselves at the top of the standings.

Whilst Andrew JORDAN pulled away, David ROBERTS (2012 Dodge Charger CoT NASCAR #2) and Joe NEMECHECK were locked in a titanic battle for second place. Kurt BUSCH remained in the running, until he made a second mistake at Mulsanne. Meanwhile, Joe NEMECHECK, who was also challenging at the front, suffered a double puncture whilst braking into Mulsanne Straight&rsquo;s second chicane. Then, late in the race, BUSCH, ROBERTS and JORDAN &ndash; who had led from the very first lap &ndash; all encountered successive problems. An incredible turnaround allowed JC France, in the #24A 2014 Chevrolet Camaro NASCAR, to edge out Nigel ARMSTRONG (the #44 2007 NASCAR CoT Toyota Camry) by less than a second. Ryan GEMMELL crossed the line in third place at the wheel of his #55 2002 NASCAR Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The second day of Le Mans Classic Legend 2026 will remain etched in people&rsquo;s memories. Two iconic moments, two unique emotions. Little Big Mans &mdash; The cult parade once again stole the hearts of the crowd. Dozens of children decked out in the colours of their favourite drivers, racing off at the wheel of their miniature replicas with Matthew Knoesen as the starter. A moment that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Le Mans Classic: passing on a passion for motoring to future generations. Grid 6 with Alexis Pinturault &mdash; Then came the official start of this very first edition. Prototypes and GTs from the 1972&ndash;1984 era, a crowd going wild, and Olympic alpine skiing champion Alexis Pinturault as the official starter. The tone was set for the whole weekend. Unforgettable moments. Le Mans Classic Legend 2026 lived up to all its promises from the very second day.

A very lively Saturday at Le Mans Classic Legend

The countdown has begun. Less than a year before its competitive debut, Ford Racing has given endurance racing fans their first thrill by revealing the soundtrack of its future Hypercar. Those first notes signal Ford's highly anticipated return to the top class of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The secret remains well protected, but it has finally found its voice. To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States&#39; independence on July 4, 2026, Ford Racing released a short video across its social media channels. Just a few seconds are enough to build excitement: a Hypercar almost entirely hidden beneath a black cover, barely moving... and, most importantly, the deep rumble of its naturally aspirated 5.4-litre V8 idling. That unmistakable soundtrack marks another milestone in the American manufacturer&#39;s preparations for its Hypercar campaign at the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship.

<h2>A First Melody Before Track Testing Begins</h2>

In the video, Ford deliberately reveals almost nothing. Yet every detail draws attention. Beneath the cover, the Hypercar hints at an exceptionally low, sleek nose, like an arrow poised to slice through the air. A small opening around the side window exposes a blue-and-white camouflage livery, a familiar sight on cars still undergoing development.

At the rear, the pronounced wheel arches suggest extensive aerodynamic work. The future Hypercar still keeps much of its design under wraps, but its proportions are already beginning to tell the story.

The real star of the video, however, is the sound. Ford&#39;s all-new naturally aspirated 5.4-litre V8 delivers its first heartbeat. The engine is based on the architecture already used in the Dearborn manufacturer&#39;s Dark Horse R, GT4 and GT3 racing programmes. A proven platform now serves as the foundation of Ford&#39;s Hypercar project.

<h2>Track Testing to Begin in August</h2>

The engine&#39;s first public appearance comes just weeks after Ford announced <a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/ford-reveals-the-names-of-the-2027-hypercar-driver-crews-60778" target="_blank">the drivers selected to lead its Hypercar programme</a>. During the most recent edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford Racing also confirmed that on-track testing would begin in August at several European circuits.

This development phase will be crucial. Engineers will focus on the prototype&#39;s overall performance, powertrain reliability, hybrid system integration and aerodynamic validation. Every kilometre covered will help prepare the car for the unique demands of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the crown jewel of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

In 2027, Ford will join an outstanding Hypercar field alongside Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Genesis, McLaren, Peugeot and Toyota. A grid where every manufacturer brings its own identity&mdash;and its own soundtrack.

For now, Ford has revealed nothing more than the mechanical heartbeat of its future challenger. But sometimes, a few pulses from a naturally aspirated V8 are all it takes to spark anticipation. And when this Hypercar lines up for the start of the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans, the rumble first heard on July 4 may well become one of endurance racing&#39;s most eagerly awaited sounds.

Ford Hypercar: V8 Roars to Life for the First Time Ahead of the 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans

Le Mans Classic Legend is underway! On Thursday, the public had the chance to experience the atmosphere of this new event and, above all, to see the cars lined up in the paddocks. Whilst the first day was marked by entertainment and exhibitions, Friday was all about the on track action, with qualifying sessions for all the categories as well as support races.

From Thursday, the opening day of the village, spectators were able to soak up the event&rsquo;s unique atmosphere. The public had the chance to explore the exhibitions, such as the one held in honour of the famous engineer Gordon Murray, but also to relax whilst taking a trip back thirty years in time in the arcade zone, the scene of fierce competitions on pinball machines and other iconic fairground games. Film enthusiasts were already able to admire iconic cars from the silver screen in an exhibition featuring, amongst others, the Peugeot 406 from Taxi and the BMW 750iL driven by James Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies. Since Friday, the drive-in MK2 cinema is also open, screening timeless films with a motoring theme, such as C&rsquo;&eacute;tait un rendez-vous and Herbie Goes Bananas.

The M24 &ndash; Motorsport Museum is an unmissable stop on this year&rsquo;s Le Mans Classic Legend itinerary. This sanctuary dedicated to the history of all motorsports is open to the public every day, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the universe celebrated by Le Mans Classic Legend. Between activities and explorations, visitors find themselves searching for diecast models or rare finds in the bustling aisles of the village, pausing to enjoy a bite to eat at the many venues set up in the area.

The track opened to competitors in the first support races on Friday at 9.20 am. Following the parades by the various clubs gathered around the circuit, the entrants in the Porsche Classic Cup took part in their first practice session. This category brings together 30 Porsche Cup cars from different generations, ranging from front-engined Type 944 Turbo Cup from the late 1980s to Type 996 GT3 Cup 911s from the early 2000s. In the session, Mike and Andrew JORDAN, in the #10 2003 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup, came out on top, just ahead of Henrik BOLLERSLEV&rsquo;s #76 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup and the #25 Porsche 996 GT3 Cup driven by Piers MASARATI and Elliott MUMFORD.

Next up was the GT3 Revival Series, which showcases GT3 cars 20 years after the category&rsquo;s inception. It was an opportunity to rediscover the iconic models that made this era legendary. J&eacute;r&ocirc;me POLICAND, with 13 appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans to his name, distinguished himself in the #87 Ferrari 458 GT3 Evo along with his teammate Jean-Luc BEAUBELIQUE. Will NUTHALL and Stephan JOEBSTL, in the #52 Ferrari 458 GT3 Evo, finished second, ahead of Heiko NEUMANN and his Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.

After this came the Berlinetta Challenge, a field comprising Ferrari Challenge cars from various generations, ranging from the 1993 348s to the 2011 458 Italia. The Ferrari Challenge championship, which was in fact created in 1993, is a one-make series that is now successful all over the world, with series in the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia/South-East Asia. Joe MACARI, drawing on his experience from two appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, set the fastest time in the qualifying session in his #12 2006 Ferrari F430 Challenge, ahead of Olivier MARKARIAN in his #42 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia Challenge and Jan BOT in a #355 1996 Ferrari F355 Challenge.

The first qualifying sessions for categories 6 to 10 began at 1.00 pm and concluded at 5.40 pm. These grids cover the bulk of modern endurance racing, with cars ranging from 1972 to 2020.

Several parades left their mark on this year&rsquo;s Le Mans Classic Legend. At 2 pm on Friday, the Mazda 787B made its appearance. As the first Japanese car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991, this car went down in history for its looks, its track record, but also &ndash; and above all &ndash; its distinctive sound: its rotary engine gives it a sound unlike any other, which no enthusiast could fail to notice as it passed by. At 7 pm, it was the turn of the Porsche 917s. Created in two versions (K for &lsquo;short&rsquo; and LH for &lsquo;long tail&rsquo;), the 917 won two editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 and 1971 &ndash; Porsche&rsquo;s first two overall victories. This parade showcased various 917s on display in Village 5, offering spectators a truly memorable moment.

Alongside the action on the track, two concerts will set the tone for the night in Le Mans starting this evening at 8 pm. Contrec&oelig;ur (8 pm), Polo &amp; Pan (10:30 pm) and &Eacute;tienne de Cr&eacute;cy (midnight) will perform on the main stage to keep the party going late into the night.

The second qualifying sessions will continue until 2 am. This gives the drivers the chance to get used to the darkness at Le Mans, which has also helped make the 24 Hours a legendary event. Action will resume on Saturday at 8 am with the club practice sessions; the day will, of course, be marked by the grand start of the Le Mans Classic Legend, which takes place at 4 pm.
