The young driver Criterium turns 60: share your experience!

In celebration of its 60th anniversary, an exhibition on the young driver Criterium, founded in 1957, is being prepared. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest is sending out an appeal to the 2.5 million children that have participated in the Criterium. Testimonials, memories, photos: share your story!

To raise awareness about road safety and instill a sense of responsiblity in young people in a fun atmosphere: such is the mission the ACO assigned itself when implementing the young driver Criterium available to kids seven to 14 years old, free of charge. On the program, a theoretical workshop followed by the highly anticipated hands-on practice with vehicles (quads, cars or scooters) adapted to the participant's age on an appropriate temporary track.

Annually during the week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the young driver Criterium sets up in the Village and kids selected throughout the year take the start of the national grand finale that takes place the day of the race as their parents watch on.

If you've had the opportunity to participate in the young driver Criterium and wish to contribute some of your memories to the large temporary exposition kicking off Septemer 7th, you can send your testimonials via private message on the Facebook page of the Musée des 24 Heures du Mans or via email to heritage@lemans.org.
