The Shark Helmets Grand Prix de France scheduled for 9–11 October 2020

The worldwide MotoGPTM calendar published by Dorna today includes the dates for the French fixture: 9, 10 and 11 October.

In an official statement, race promoter Claude Michy said: “We have been working hard to ensure motorcycle racing continues as far as possible, and keeping an optimistic outlook at all times. Given the current situation in France and in the other countries that host championship races, the 2020 Shark Helmets Grand Prix de France is scheduled for 9–11 October, on the understanding that the race may be held behind closed doors. For the moment government restrictions forbid the sort of event we are used to hosting, with jostling crowds, milling spectators and an array of entertainment. We anticipate the disappoint and frustration should the restrictions continue, yet we must all accept the situation and the measures taken to protect us all. Therefore, if necessary, the Shark Helmets Grand Prix de France will either be cancelled or, preferably, run behind closed doors.  Then again, we may well be able to welcome fans to the circuit. Circumstances may change for the better and the government may consequently authorise our race and other major events scheduled before the Shark Helmets Grand Prix de France (The Tour de France, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Roland Garros, the football season etc.). We would like to thank everyone concerned by the event for their support. Our thoughts at this time are also with the victims of Covid-19 and their loved-ones."
