Sustainable Circuits Index: Bugatti the most improved circuit of the year

The Bugatti has been ranked fourth worldwide in the second edition of the Sustainable Circuits Index™ published by Enovation Consulting. The Le Mans circuit has made the most progress over the last year among the 96 racetracks assessed on sustainability criteria.

The second edition of the Sustainable Circuits Index™ (SCI™) is based on 21 sustainable development criteria. One year after unveiling its CSR strategy, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest has been rewarded for its committed efforts to make its events more sustainable.

The report highlighted the circuit’s “impressive year over year result” and believes that “the significant improvement in performance can be credited primarily to the increased disclosure of the circuit’s sustainability commitments and practices.”

Hydrogen was hailed as another key factor in the Bugatti circuit's environmental performance: “Included among the circuit’s many sustainability-driven initiatives is its use of hydrogen-powered generators to power the big screen positioned in the circuit’s fan zone, in turn reducing carbon emissions at its events.”

The SCI™ also praised the ACO’s social impact initiatives, including its campaign to tackle food waste and its partnership with the Coeur de Pilotes charity.

The report concluded its review of the racetrack stating: “Overall, through its holistic approach to sustainability, the [Bugatti] Circuit has shown it is unquestionably committed to creating a more sustainable and thriving future for its surrounding community, and for the motorsport sector.”
