Owner track days are back this autumn

ACO members are regularly invited to drive their own classic cars on the iconic Bugatti track. The day includes lunch and owners have access to the circuit in four 20-minute sessions.

The third track day of the year is on Monday 21 November. For some longstanding members, this will be their fifteenth time on the Bugatti track. Many come back time and time again to experience the exhilaration of driving at Le Mans.

The whole Bugatti track and its infrastructure are open to member owners on these special days. Track and pit safety measures operate in race conditions to ensure everything runs smoothly for members and their passengers.

Participants arrive from 8am and are shown to their designated areas. After the safety brief, the first group takes to the track at 9am.

Vehicles will be sorted into four groups according to weight and power, to ensure maximum safety. Weather and time permitting, each group will have four 20-minute sessions on the 4.185-km Bugatti track during the day.

Always dreamed of a lap at Le Mans?

Ever imagined the adrenaline mounting as you leave the pit lane and hit the track? Have you pictured yourself shooting under the Dunlop footbridge and racing down towards the chapel corner, the acceleration before the museum corner as you head for the eastern end of the Bugatti?

Then comes the Esse at the Chemin aux Boeufs, as the old road that runs along the outside of the track is known. The very first motor cars were tested at this spot over a thousand years ago. Next is the blue Esses and then just past pit in, the “raccordement” where the public road circuit joins up with the Bugatti, then the pit straight and the lap is complete.

A memorable day

After the two morning sessions, lunch is served in the control tower building, which offers splendid views of the track. It’s a pretty special place to eat, surrounded by fellow club members and car enthusiasts.

Owner track days on the Bugatti track are reserved for ACO members and one passenger only. Cars must be pre-1986. Other cars of an exceptional nature may be accepted at the discretion of the ACO. Convertibles must have manufacturer-authorised roll bars and keep the roof on during the track day.
