New twin-turbo engine for LMP3 from 2025

Following the termination of VK56 production by Nismo, the current generation LMP3 engine will no longer be supplied after the 2024 season. Consequently, the ACO has published an invitation to tender for the new 2025-2029 LMP3 engine taking into account criteria that will be important for the future of the category, including performance, fuel economy, noise reduction, and cost control.

After receiving multiple offers, the ACO is pleased to announce that it has selected Oreca’s twin-turbo V6 proposal as the new LMP3 engine for the 2025-2029 homologation period. Details on this new powerplant will be available soon when they are finalized.

The ACO will communicate shortly on the adjustment to the cars and their homologation, taking into account the high number of cars on track and the variety of championships utilizing the platform. The current chassis manufacturers have been retained for this new homologation period.
