Guillaume Roy, a member of the ACO, will launch the 24 Hours of Le Mans

It

For this coming weekend’s 83rd Le Mans 24 Hours, the ACO organised an on-line game between 15th May and 7th June reserved for its Facebook fans and club members to give them the chance of trying to win numerous presents including the most sought-after one – the honour of giving the start of the warm-up lap to the most prestigious endurance race in the world. The lucky winner of this draw is Guillaume Roy, perhaps a pre-destined name for this passionate motor sport fan living in the Calvados department and a member of the ACO since 2013.
Contacted yesterday by the ACO teams Guillaume didn’t hide his delight at this piece of good news and gave full vent to his joy. “I was speechless when I was told about this big surprise. I played one evening without thinking that I might win. It’s beginning to sink in as the images from last year’s start are swirling round in my head. I couldn’t stop myself from contacting some friends to tell them that I’d won the jackpot; I think they’re a bit jealous!”
Since 1906, the ACO has pursued two objectives: namely, to defend road users and the passion for the motor car by offering its members, in particular, the possibility of enjoying the Le Mans 24 Hours in VIP conditions since 1923. This year the ACO members will again be the kings of Le Mans as the ACO will give its 80 000 members a very exclusive welcome so that they can experience every moment of the race in the most comfortable and safest possible environment.

Dedicated welcome venues and restaurants
From tomorrow (Wednesday) onwards and throughout the duration of the Le Mans 24 Hours, ACO members can enjoy the race from the trackside in two places specially created for them not far from the Virage de la Chapelle, and the “Raccordement “zone. There they will receive a personalised welcome from the ACO teams including a restaurant service and a bar at their disposal at preferential prices plus TV screens, and a flow of information in real time that will allow them to follow every minute of the race in all its intensity enhanced by unbeatable views on the track.
The welcome venues in the Virage de la Chapelle and the Raccordement will be open on Wednesday and Thursday 10th and 11th June from 15h30 to midnight, on Saturday 13th from 9h to midnight and Sunday 14th from 06h00 to 17h00. On Friday 12th June the Raccordement venue will be closed while the one at the Virage de la Chapelle will be open from 10h00 to 22h00.
Every member of the ACO will be able to access these venues accompanied by his/her wife/husband and children on presentation of his/her valid membership card. The person can also invite three guests to enjoy the same kind of welcome at a cost of 15€ per guest.

Two reserved grandstands
Given the huge crowd expected for this event the famous grandstands 17 and 18 are reserved for ACO members with two seats per card. These places have to be paid for and members must reserve their seats from the ticket service. A bar and food will be available in these grandstands at preferential prices plus a relaxation zone, TV screens, information on the race live and lockers.

Welcome zones and private car parks
The ACO has also reserved welcome zones for its members including the two camp sites, the Houx Annexe Club and the Château du Houx Club in the heart of the Bugatti circuit. They are equipped with toilet facilities and are guarded. A private car park, which is payable, is also at members’ disposal.

Today at the circuit
This morning the traditional photo of the 168 drivers racing in the Le Mans 24 Hours was taken on the start/finish line. Here are the 168 heroes who will thrill us from practice tomorrow until the end of the 83rd Le Mans 24 Hours on Sunday 14th June.
In the afternoon they took part in the traditional autograph session in front of their cars’ garages. The pits straight was invaded by the public.
