Exclusive - New 24 Hours of Le Mans safety cars unveiled to ACO members

On Tuesday, March 10th, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest invited a dozen of its members to the Porsche Experience Center for a big reveal of the new fleet of 24 Hours of Le Mans safety cars to be provided by Porsche until 2020.

"After seeing a photo of them, I wasn't quite sold. But now seeing them up close and personal, they're something else! They're magnificent!", admits Thomas, 20 years old and a one-year ACO member. Thomas - like a dozen other Club members, fans from Facebook and Ouest-France subscribers - was invited by the ACO to the Porsche Experience Center in Le Mans for an exclusive reveal of the new safety cars.

The three Porsche 911 Turbo safety cars arrived at the circuit just a few day ago. "These safety cars have 540 hp and go from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds," explains Sylvain Tessier, track and driving school manager. These Porsches are mechanically similar to production cars, with some minor adjustments such as a gyrophare, GPS beacon, radio, flashers...

"These are high performance cars, tailored for the track. We are very confident we have exactly what we need!"

The member guests were then given the opportunity to tour the Porsche Experience Center. The only one of its kind in France, the center was presented by Bruno Vandestick, the official speaker of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The center allows new French Porsche purchasers to test out a similar car at the Maison Blanche track and also serves as a driving school and an exceptional destination for business seminars.

"We offer this type of activity to gather together Club members around shared interests."
N.Cousseau, ACO Club Director
