Club ACO - May Lee, an ACO USA ambassador

May Lee joining ACO USA as a volunteer in Fall 2022. Following active participation and contributions, she was nominated and accepted the role of ambassador in late 2023.

How did you become an ambassador for the club?

I was the Vice President of the NSX Club of America for 16 years from 2006-2022 and editor of the club's NSX Driver magazine until mid-2022. I became a volunteer for ACO USA in Fall 2022 joining "The Pit Crew" where we met every other week to provide inputs on improving the club and plan for the 100th 24 Hours of Le Mans race. After serving for a year on "The Pit Crew", I was nominated to become an ambassador in late 2023 and happily accepted this incredible honor to serve in a leadership capacity for an internationally renowned racing organization.

What is your relationship with the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

I have always wanted to attend the 24 Hours of Le Mans because of its iconic status as one of the Triple Crown of Motorsport races. I had previously gone to the Monaco Grand Prix in 2008 and then to the 100th Indianapolis 500 race in 2016. The only race I was missing was the 24 Hours of Le Mans. When I realized the 100th running of the race was in 2023, I joined the ACO in Fall 2022 to get advance access to purchase tickets. It was fantastic to go to the race in 2023 and meet legendary racers like Margie Smith-Haas (first U.S. woman to race at Le Mans) and other ACO USA Members. I will be returning to see the race again this year in 2024!

What are your ambitions, your desires within the club?

I hope to bring my 16 years of experience as the former Vice President of the NSX Club of America to contribute to the ACO USA's success. In my previous role, I helped organize, host and raise sponsorship dollars from major donors like Acura and Jay Leno for our annual NSXPO event comprised of a 2-3 day social event and a 1-2 day HPDE (High Performance Driving Education) track event. I regularly wrote articles and provided personal photos for our NSX Driver magazine and our NSXCA website.

In the past six months, I've helped organize the ACO USA's inaugural "Blown Away" event in San Diego with the Schooner America yacht and our first member meet-up at the Daytona Rolex 24 race hosting garage pit tours with Porsche Penske. I've written articles and provided photos for both events and spearheaded a Member survey to gather inputs on how we can improve to better serve our Members.  I've helped plan and schedule our Evening With A Legend bi-monthly Zoom events for this year with some exciting guests! I look forward to channelling my passion and energy into the ACO USA club by continuing in all of these efforts and more!
