Aston Martin Racing arrived at the 24 Hours this year as the defending LMGTE Pro winner, with last year's final lap showdown between the eventual winner - the #97 Aston Martin Vantage - and the #63 Corvette C7.R fresh on everyone's minds. In 2018, the British marque fielded two all-new Vantages.

The two new Aston Martin Vantages sported the racing numbers #95 and #97 per usual. The first car had a significant incident at Test Day on Sunday 3 June, causing a race against the clock to rebuild the car that put every team member to work. Their determined efforts were rewarded with an eighth place finish for Marco Sørensen, Nicki Thiim and three-time GT winner Darren Turner at Le Mans. The car had no additional setbacks, it simply couldn't keep up with the pace set by the best cars in the class.

The second car shared by Maxime Martin, Alex Lynn and Jonny Adam experienced a loss in oil pressure, relegating the trio to 13th in LMGTE Pro. It was a difficult edition for the British manufacturer, now focused on the third round of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) set to take place mid-August at Silverstone at home in the U.K.!
