What happens when it’s all over? Audi works driver Benoît Tréluyer answers the question.

Three-time Le Mans winner Benoît Tréluyer and his teammates Marcel Fässler and André Lotterer can all say what happens after Le Mans when you win the race.

"Whether we win or not, Audi asks us to keep the following fortnight free for PR", says Benoît Tréluyer. "Of course, there’s lots more media attention when you win. When we won for the third time, on my own account I asked a friend who is a PR officer to set up two days of interviews in Paris with myself, Marcel and André."

Audi drivers also visit the manufacturer’s production sites in Ingolstadt, near Munich and Neckarsulm, near Stuttgart to attend trade union meetings. “At the meetings, staff can question top management. It’s all in German, so it’s not always easy for me, but my codrivers have no problems! Fortunately, there’s an element of fun too. We drive a few demonstration laps with the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters super tourer drivers."

In fact, win or lose, Audi’s post-race schedule is much the same. "We didn’t win last year, but our Audi finished highest of the three so we still got a lot of attention. But even if we have a busy two weeks afterwards, I don’t mind, it’s well worth it if you win the race."

Tréluyer will have to wait another year to try and equal Henri Pescarolo and Yannick Dalmas on four wins.
