CFD is used to study air flow on the car body: the more resistance the air encounters, the slower the car goes and the greater amount of energy must be produced to counter the the resistance and allow the car to move forward. It is one of the tasks entrusted to Hans Wilmink, CFD engineer in the aero department of Toyota's competition division.
