WEC - Ford to keep its 2017 drivers for the upcoming season

Ford has been involved in Endurance racing for two years now. With five victories in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) - including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016 in the LMGTE Pro class for Joey Hand, Dirk Müller and Sébastien Bourdais - Ford will continue to participate in the WEC for the 2018/2019 Super Season.

This past season, Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK was only able to win two races: at Silverstone in the U.K. and at Shanghai in China. The team also claimed the second step on the LMGTE Pro class podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the #67 Ford GT. In the end, Ford drivers Harry Tincknell and Andy Priaulx finished third in the World GT Drivers Championship.

Ford, after its second place finish in the World GT Manufacturers Championship, will continue to compete in the 2018/2019 Super Season of the World Edurance Championship (WEC) and has retained the same drivers as this year for the task. At the wheel of the #66 Ford GT will be Frenchman Olivier Pla and German driver Stefan Mücke. The Brits Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell will share the #67 Ford GT. The British team led by George Howard-Chappell intends to have a more successful season than 2017 and is undoubtedly aiming for a win at the 24 Hours. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the win for the #9 Ford GT40 driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi at Le Mans (1968).
