WEC - A fabulous night-time display at Circuit of the Americas!

Competitors in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) took to the track for a night-time practice session in Austin yesterday. Take a look at these superb images shot after dark, showing the GTs and prototypes in an atmosphere reminiscent of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In the World Endurance Championship, we only get to see night-time racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and during the last few hours at Austin and Bahrain, so it’s always something of a treat when we get a glimpses of all four classes out on the track in the dark.

Watch this video to see the LM P1s, LM P2s, LM GTE Pros and LM GTE Ams take possession of Circuit of the Americas, a fast circuit that allows for some impressive action. Certain sections were inspired by other tracks such as Silverstone and Hockenheim, but there’s definitely something of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the air too. Ultimately, however,  in the eyes of endurance fans, nothing can beat the very special atmosphere at Le Mans once the sun has gone down.

If you haven’t already done so, now is time to save the date for the next 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you can make it to Circuit de la Sarthe on 17 and 18 June 2017, you too can be part of the night-time magic!
