- Unprecedented: the second free practice session was interrupted by...a photographer in an ill-advised spot!

- Paolo Catone was present in the paddock at the Nürburgring. Remember that the Italian designer, who conceptualized the Peugeot 905 and 908 HDi FAP, serves as a consultant on Ginetta's LMP1 project. The car has just spent two weeks in wind tunnel testing and is expected to hit the track for the first time in November.

- Also seen in the paddock was Julien Schell. The owner of the Pegasus Racing team was there as an observer, possibly because a return to the European Le Mans Series is on his list of priorities, with an eye on the LMP3 class specifically. 

- While the driver line-ups in LMGTE Pro are now made up of two drivers after the 24 Hours, the exception was the trio in the #97 Aston Martin Vantage - namely Darren Turner, Jonathan Adam and Daniel Serra - the winning line-up in LMGTE Pro at Le Mans. 

- The driver line-up in SMP Racing's #27 Dallara P217 set to compete at the Red Bull Ring for the fourth round of the European Le Mans Series is now known: Egor Orudzhev and Matevos Isaakyan. The two Russians ran at the Nürburging in Formula V8 3.5 with SMP Racing by AVF. The car finished 16th in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for its first appearance of the year. 

- The 24 Hours of Le Mans trophy remained with Porsche this weekend. 

- Signatech Alpine Matmut's #35 Alpine A470 saved face. Indeed, following the disqualification of Vaillante Rebellion's #13 Oreca 07-Gibson at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the French car is now ranked third of the LMP2s at Le Mans (see Facebook post below). 

- G-Drive Racing's Oreca 07-Gibson incurred another penalty in Germany. Though the car had clocked the best time in the LMP2 class at the Nürburgring, the wear of the base under the car surpassed the 5 mm limit allowed by the regulations and therefore relegated the #26 to the back of the field. The penalty came on the heels of the one provoked at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the form of a three-minute stop & go for Roman Rusinov's contact with Proton Compétition's Porsche. Consequently, Jackie Chan DC Racing's #38 Oreca 07-Gibson gained pole position in LMP2.

- Decidely, the LMP2s were no strangers to penalties. In addition to G-Drive Racing's #26 Oreca 07-Gibson, Signatech Alpine Matmut's #35 Alpine A470-Gibson driven by Pierre Ragues, André Negrao and Nelson Panciatici incurred a 30-second stop & go for dangerous driving during a qualifying session. CEFC Manor TRS Racing's #24 Oreca 07-Gibson driven by Roberto Merhi, Jonathan Hirschi and Tor Graves was given a seven-minute stop & go after the Swiss driver made contact with Stefan Mücke's #66 Ford GT during a red flag overtaking in the second free practice session.

- Porsche won with the same car as it did at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the #2 919 Hybrid, and the same driver line-up: Brendon Hartley, Earl Bamber and Timo Bernhard. 

- This is the third win for the German manufacturer in as many participations in the country. It is also the third victory for Jackie Chan DC Racing (LMP2) this season.

- This is the first win this season for the Dempsey Proton-Racing team entered in the LMGTE Am class. 

- The best in-race lap was clocked by Kamui Kobayashi in the #7 Toyota TS050 HYBRID in 1'40.633. The Japanese driver is truly the fastest man of the moment after his two consecutive pole positions at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and then the Nürburgring.

- 27 cars out of 29 at the start made it to the checkered flag. Only Signatech Alpine Matmut's #35 Alpine A470-Gibson was forced to retire, with gearbox problems, and Tockwith Motorsports's #34 Ligier JS P217-Gibson went unranked as the car failed to cover 70% of the distance achieved by the winners.
