Toyota's president pays a visit to the winner of the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans

Sporting a Manga inspired T-shirt toasting Toyota's one-two at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans, last week the Japanese marque's president, Akio Toyoda, gave a speech to staff at the headquarters of the sporting division in Cologne, Germany.

Since its win at the 86th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid has been given a coat of a product intended to maintain its condition at Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG). The car served as the backdrop to the speech and countless selfies Akio Toyoda enjoyed taking!

For the occasion, the employees donned the commemorative T-shirt given them by their president who himself did a stint as a racing driver not that long ago. He took the start at the 2009 24 Hours of Nürburgring under the name Morizo - which explains the shout-out tweet to "Morizo san" - at the wheel of a Lexus, finishing in 87th place just a few weeks before officially taking his position at the helm of the Japanese marque.

This win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans was a dream come true after 20 attempts thanks to Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima (who attended Neste Rally Finland with Kamui Kobayashi to cheer on the Toyota Yaris in the WRC) and two-time F1 world champion Fernando Alonso who reached the top step on the podium at Le Mans as a rookie.
