Toyota triumphs at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time ever!

Having dominated the whole race, Toyota rose to the occasion to win the 86th 24 Hours of Le Mans. The magnificent one-two finish, sees Fernando Alonso, Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima as overall winners.

A historic one-two for Toyota

First and second is a superb result for the Japanese manufacturer, who reigned supreme from beginning to end. The TS050 Hybrids lived up to expectations and finally obtained a well-deserved result in the iconic race. What a relief to finally triumph in a race in which the team seemed jinxed.

And it’s not always easy to be favourite. Especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Every year, Le Mans reminds us how unpredictable, how gripping, how cruel a race can be. Toyota knows that only too well. In the early nineties, at the turn of the century and more recently, the Japanese team has been unlucky. In 2014, the #7 Toyota TS040 retired with an electric fault in the early hours of the morning.
