The Rebellion Racing team is set to compete in the LMP1 class next year after a season in LMP2 at the end of which the Swiss outfit was crowned in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC)...as were two of its drivers - Julien Canal (three-time class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans) - and Bruno Senna.

A multiple winner of the Endurance Private LMP1 Teams Trophy, the team helmed by Bart Hayden will participate in the entire 2018/2019 Super Season of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), and therefore the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, an opportunity for André Lotterer (three-time winner of the race with Audi) and for Neel Jani (winner in 2016 with Porsche) to add an entry to their track records.

Neel Jani: "I am looking forward to coming back where my endurance career started 9 years ago. REBELLION Racing played a huge role in my career and also helped me become a factory driver for Porsche. When Porsche stopped in LMP1, it was clear for me that I wanted to race again for REBELLION. With the new regulations, I hope we can reach the overall podium at Le Mans and with a bit of luck, maybe we can even grab some wins during the super season of WEC."

André Lotterer: "I am very happy to join the champion REBELLION team! The LMP1 project is very exciting and to be able to go on with the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA WEC challenge is something I did not want to miss. I am motivated and looking forward to have a great time with great people there!"

It will be a first for the French-speaking German, but a homecoming for the Swiss driver, a team member between 2009 and 2014 before becoming an official Porsche driver in LMP1 and claiming the top step on the overall podium at Le Mans along with Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb. Neel Jani will reunite with his fellow countryman Mathias Beche - who has represented Rebellion Racing since 2013 and whose car was forced to forfeit at the end of the 2017 24 Hours - as well as Bruno Senna, 14th in the LMP2 class at Le Mans this year, for a second season.

On the other hand, this will be the very first season with Rebellion Racing, and in LMP1, for young driver Thomas Laurent, the recipient of the Jean Rondeau Award (for best French hopeful) and second overall (first in LMP2) with the Jackie Chan DC Racing team at the 24 Hours this past June. The same is true for Gustavo Menezes, a transfer from the Signatech Alpine team with whom he reached the top step on the LMP2 class podium at Le Mans in 2016 before winning the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) at the end of the year with Nicolas Lapierre and Stéphane Richelmi.

Rebellion Racing will be announcing the composition of its driver line-ups and which of the two cars will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March.
