Preview of the second round of the Asian Le Mans Series at Fuji

Two short weeks after the first race of the 2018-2019 season at Shanghai in China, the Asian Le Mans Series competitors are now headed to the same Fuji circuit in Japan that recently hosted the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC).

The teams and drivers participating in the Asian Le Mans Series have barely had a chance to catch their breath after a remarkable first round at the Shanghai circuit. They're already gearing up for second race this weekend at the legendary Fuji Speedway located at the foot of Mount Fuji. The track has hosted this championship since 2013.

Twenty cars are expected this weekend in Japan and there are sure to be stunning battles on the track.

The LMP2 grid will be comprised of seven cars, all Ligier JS P2s. Following their win two weeks ago, Pipo Derani, Côme Ledogar and Alexander West sharing Spirt of Race's #8 Ligier JS P2-Nissan are leading the championship.

Eight cars will face off in the LMP3 class at Fuji, with only a couple of driver changes to note: United Autosports will bring on 2016 European Le Mans Series champion Christian England to replace Jim McGuire at the wheel fo the #3 Ligier JS P3.

In GT, Tianshi Racing Team is set to field two Audi R8 LMS GT3s, thanks to timely repairs to the second car after it caught on fire in China. The Car Guy team will be one to watch as it's competing at home and is based just a stone's throw from this circuit. The team is hoping its Ferrari 488 GT3's new yellow livery will help it score back-to-back wins after Shanghai.
