Porsche celebrates its two wins at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans (video)

Ten Porsche 911 RSRs took the start at the 86th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year with one distinct goal: to win the LMGTE Pro class. Mission accomplished thanks to the #92 ("Pink Pig" version in honor of the 1971 Porsche 917) shared by Kevin Estre, Michael Christensen and Laurens Vanthoor, and for good measure the top step on the LMGTE Am podium too!

Five years after Porsche's last victory in GT at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this was an important edition for the German marque. Four factory cars were entered in LMGTE Pro by Porsche GT Team. Though the #93 and #94 were forced to retire, the #91 and #92, both participating in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), soldiered on to score a one-two for Porsche's 70th anniversary: the #92 driven by Kevin Estre, Michael Christensen and Laurens Vanthoor ahead of the #91 shared by Ginamaria Bruni, Richard Lietz and Fred Makowiecki!

With six cars fielded in LMGTE Am, Dempsey-Proton Racing's #77 Porsche 911 RSR entrusted to Christian Ried, Matt Campbell and French driver Julien Andlauer reached the top step on the class podium after having led the race for more than 12 hours.

There's nothing like a one-two to honor a milestone anniversary, not to mention Porsche's 42nd and 43rd win in GT at Le Mans, the first dating back…50 years: in 1968 the #43 Porsche 911T won the GT2.0 class thanks to Jean-Pierre Gaban and Roger van der Schrick.
