On 13 November, Peugeot Sport revealed its intention to rejoin the FIA World Endurance Championship with a hybrid-powered hypercar. The French carmaker has just rubberstamped a partnership agreement with Rebellion Corporation for this joint project. In January 2020, the technical crew will lay down the project’s guidelines when Peugeot Sport and Rebellion Racing put their team into place.

Rebellion Racing’s experience of the FIA WEC will be a big asset as we put together the strongest possible team for our programme, and this was corroborated by the team’s recent victory in Shanghai [at the FIA WEC 4 Hours of Shanghai]. The roles will be divided as a function of our respective competencies and all of us will be based at Versailles-Satory [near Paris, France].

Peugeot last won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2009 with the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, its LMP1 diesel prototype, and previously in 1992 and 1993 with the 905 Evo 1B. Rebellion Racing clinched the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP2 Teams in 2017 and, before that, the FIA Endurance Trophy for Private LMP1 Teams five times in succession from 2012 to 2016.
