The announcement about the duo Paul Lafargue/Paul-Loup Chatin for the 2018 season confirms the original plan to field a Ligier JS P217 for a young driver line-up, and another for gentlemen-drivers. Consequently, for the first time since the IDEC Sport Racing team's creation back in 2015, father and son Lafargue will not join forces on the track.
The full-time hiring of Paul-Loup Chatin - driver on the weekend and student at Science Po during the week - underscores the ambition of the Parisian outfit after recruiting Nicolas Minassian, second overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2008 and third in 2011, as its Racing Director. The former official Peugeot driver's mission will be to bring on a third driver to support the 2014 ELMS LMP2 winner with Alpine as well as Paul Lafargue if IDEC Sport Racing figures on the invitees list for the 86th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans to be revealed on February 9th.
