Originally, IDEC Sport expected to field two Ligier JS P217s in the European Le Mans Series this season and had applied for two invitations to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But the Selection Committee opted to approve just one Ligier for the main entry list and relegate the second to the reserve list. Since then, the French outfit has requested removal from the reserve list in order to focus its efforts on one lone car, all while keeping two in the European championship.

Though the team is retaining the Ligier LMP2 it fielded last year, it has chosen not to purchase a second, instead acquiring one of Rebellion Racing's two ORECA 07s. This is the car the team will use for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an exchange sanctioned both by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest Sporting Committee and the European Le Mans Series Committee.

Earlier in the week, IDEC Sport indicated Guillermo "Memo" Rojas, LMP2 winner at the close of the 2017 European Le Mans Series season along with Léo Roussel, will compete in the European championship at the wheel of the ORECA 07, joining Paul Lafargue and Paul-Loup Chatin, a collaboration also approved for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Memo Rojas: "In 2004, I spent a year in Le Mans in order to drive in Europe. At that time, my engineer was called Eric Boullier (now with McLaren in F1, Ed.)! So I’m pleased now to be back with a French team. Moreover, I’m really pleased to have Paul (Lafargue, Ed.) and Paul-Loup (Chatin, Ed.) as my co-drivers. Paul is a very good Silver driver and that is one of the keys to succeeding in endurance racing. Paul-Loup is also fast and experienced, so I’m convinced that together we form a great team."
