Le Mans Esports Series: race day at Birmingham

The fourth qualifying round of the Le Mans Esports Series championship is looking outstanding! The round at the Brands Hatch circuit in the game Forza Motorsport 7 will be held at Autosport International in Birmingham. Spectators and motorsport competitors have taken turns in the simulator since Friday to try their hand at Le Mans-style virtual endurance racing.

For the latest qualifying round (for a spot in the finale in June), players will compete at a dedicated stand in the heart of Autosport International. Ten online qualified competitors are here, as well as two spectators who clocked the two fastest times on-site. They are Tobin Leigh a.k.a. "Racerz" (an 18-year-old pro player) and official Aston Martin driver Ross Gunn! They will be taking on the best players in Europe!

There are several French players competing: Williams Seven - who has played Forza Motorsport for seven years - is representing the eSport Williams team. With several players competing on its behalf, the team could do very well in the standings. "Representing an outfit demands dedication and both individual and collective effort," explains the young man. "I can't wait to do my best. Endurance racing is an interesting format, I've immersed myself in the Le Mans atmosphere, and have already been to the race twice. We need to be consistent and focused the entire time. With stints sometimes longer than two hours, the Le Mans Esports Series is quite a challenge. For us (the Williams team, Ed.), the goal is for each player to earn as many points as possible. It's all about the team."

Alexandre "Asix" Arnou will take the start with high ambitions as well. He left Vitality for the Le Mans Esport Series and joined the G2 team (led by Laige). "My challenge in the new year was to find a team. For this competition, I'm a member of G2 looking to make my mark at Le Mans. I love doing long races. I’m kind of over sprint races as I've done long races in the past, and they're really interesting mentally. So I'm in my element."

Aurélien "G2 Laige" Mallet, who has the most titles in Forza Motorsport (seven French, three world), will be one to watch. To participate in the finale during the 24 Hours of Le Mans is his current main objective. "I’ve always loved endurance racing. I go to the 24 Hours of Le Mans every year, the first time when I was 10 years old. I hope to reach the podium this year. Today, as always, the goal is to win and have fun doing it," explains the player whose year 2018 was exceptional thanks to a Forza world champion title.
