Jenson Button: "I'm building my confidence!"

The British former Formula 1 driver is feeling good despite never before experiencing long stints at the wheel.

Jenson Button looked reassured and excited getting out of his car for a break after a 10-lap stint: "I needed that to build my confidence. I'm still at the point where I need to cover some laps. I had never done such a long stint before and it's the first time I felt that comfortable in the car. I was a second faster going into the last turn, but a GT literally stopped in front of me to avoid an LMP2 having problems. But, that's ok. Considering the tires I had, I'm pretty pleased. It wasn't a question of time in any case. For now the goal is not to race against the clock, but to understand the car and make sure it runs well in cooler temps. For us the challenge is to find some grip at the front of the car to maintain speed in the turns. The speeds these cars go is mind-boggling. Now I can't wait to drive at night. I did it once at Magny-Cours when it was pitch black. I've been told it's not that bad at Le Mans, but I'm curious to find out for myself what it's like at night on the track."
