Jackie Chan DC Racing debuted at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. With two ORECA 07–Gibsons entered in the LMP2 class, the team co-owned by the famous actor almost pulled off a miracle: winning the race! In the end, the two cars claimed the second and third steps on the overall podium.
The Jackie Chan DC Racing team is competing in the full season of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) this year, with two ORECA 07-Gibsons in LMP2. After a stunning early season (a win for the #38 at the opening round at Silverstone), the outfit first arrived at Le Mans for Test Day. Yet, it wasn't in purely unknown territory since its technical support is provided by none other than Jota Sport, winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014 (Harry Tincknell, Simon Dolan and Oliver Turvey with a Zytek Z11SN-Nissan) and European Le Mans Series champion in 2016!
After an outstanding race during which the #38 held the overall lead for several hours ahead of Porsche and Toyota, the car reached the second step on the overall podium and won the LMP2 class with at the wheel Ho-Pin Tung, Oliver Jarvis (fresh from Audi Sport) and young talent Thomas Laurent. The French driver was even awarded the Jean Rondeau trophy for the best French hopeful in Endurance racing. The #37 sister car driven by Alex Brundle, David Cheng and Tristan Gommendy rounded out this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans podium.
Since then the team's momentum has never waned, with a victory (the third of the season) at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring in July, once again for the #38. After competing at six rounds of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), Jackie Chan DC Racing is now leading the battle for the LMP2 Teams Endurance Trophy with a 20-point lead on its main rival, Vaillante Rebellion.
