Twelve invitations to the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans have already been granted following the results from the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans, the European Le Mans Series, the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship:
- TOYOTA GAZOO Racing - 2019 Le Mans win in LMP1, invitation in LMP1
- Signatech Alpine Matmut - 2019 Le Mans win in LMP2, invitation in LMP2
- AF Corse - 2019 Le Mans win in LMGTE Pro, invitation in LMGTE Pro
- Team Project 1 - 2019 Le Mans win in LMGTE Am, invitation en LMGTE Am
- IDEC SPORT Racing - first in the European Le Mans Series in LMP2, invitation in LMP2
- G-Drive Racing - second in the European Le Mans Series in LMP2, invitation in LMP2
- Eurointernational - first in the European Le Mans series in LMP3, invitation in LMP2
- Luzich Racing - first in the European Le Mans Series in LMGTE, invitation in LMGTE *
- Dempsey-Proton Racing - second in the European Le Mans Series in LMGTE, invitation in LMGTE *
- Kessel Racing - first in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in GT3, invitation in LMGTE Am
Two invitations at the discretion of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship have also been awarded:
- Cameron Cassels (Jim Trueman Award Winner) - Performance Tech in LMP2
- Richard Heistand (Bob Akin Award Winner) - JMW in LMGTE Am
Four additional invitations will be granted at the end of the 2019-2020 Asian Le Mans Series season scheduled for 23 February at the final round in Buriram, Thailand:
- First in LMP2 will receive an invitation in LMP2
- First in LMP2 Am will receive an invitation in LMP2 or LMGTE Am (subject to the approval of the Selection Committee in the second case)
- First in LMP3 will receive an invitation in LMP2 or LMGTE Am
- First in GT3 will receive an invitation in LMGTE Am
(*) The competitor may choose between the Pro and Am classes.
Applications for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be submitted to the Selection Committee who will release the official 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans entry list.
