IMSA – Everything you need to know about the upcoming 69th 12 Hours of Sebring

After the Rolex 24 at Daytona this past 30-31 January, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competitors, 36 cars in five classes, are now gearing up for the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida.

The field for the 69th 12 Hours of Sebring boasts 36 cars as follows: seven in the DPi class, five in LMP2, six in LMP3, five in GTLM and 13 in GTD. Having served as the season finale last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race returns to its traditional dates in March as the second round of the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona season opener was won by Wayne Taylor Racing's #10 Acura ARX-05. The team's drivers – Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque and Alexander Rossi – will be seeking to claim the top step on the podium at Sebring as well. Last year, Mazda Motorsports' #55 Mazda triumphed, and the Cadillac DPis fielded by Chip Ganassi Racing, JDC-Miller MotorSports, Whelen Engineering Racing and Ally Cadillac Racing are also contenders for victory.

In LMP2, the team to watch is United Autosports, winner in this class at the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans. James McGuire, Wayne Boyd and Guy Smith will share the #22 ORECA 07.

In GTLM (the equivalent of LMGTE Pro at the 24 Hours of Le Mans), Corvette Racing, BMW Team RLL and WeatherTech Racing (#79 Porsche 911 RSR-19) will battle it out.

In GTD, seven different marques will compete: Lamborghini, Porsche, Lexus, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Acura and BMW.
