FIA WEC – Toyota Gazoo Racing gets to grips with Sebring International Raceway

A Toyota Gazoo Racing prototype has taken to the track at Sebring International Raceway for the very first time. The Japanese manufacturer is currently preparing for the 1000 Miles of Sebring, the sixth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship 2018-19 Super Season, with three days of tests.

The FIA Word Endurance Championship (WEC) will return to the track on 15 March at Sebring International Raceway, Florida. Sebring can rightfully claim to be the birthplace of FIA WEC as this was where the inaugural season was launched in 2012 with a 12-hour race. Toyota Gazoo Racing did not take part in that race which is one of the reasons why the Japanese outfit is currently running three days of tests at the former aerodrome. The purpose is to gain first-hand experience of a bumpy 6.1-km track that is reputed to be uncompromising on the cars. Drivers Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, José María López, Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Fernando Alonso are all in attendance.

An official one-day test session will be held ahead of the race weekend for all WEC runners and riders who will also discover the circuit.

The 1000 Miles of Sebring will be held on Friday 15 March 2019. The race will be flagged off at 16:00 (local time) and finish after nightfall.
