ELMS - TDS Racing (ORECA) takes pole position at the 4 Hours of Monza

TDS Racing, thanks to Mathieu Vaxivière, clinched the pole at the 4 Hours of Monza, second round of the European Le Mans Series, with the #33 ORECA 07-Gibson. The French team's car will share the first row with DragonSpeed's #21 ORECA 07. Norma and Porsche clocked the fastest times in the other classes.

The LMP2 qualifying session was up for grabs until the end, when Mathieu Vaxivière driving TDS Racing's #33 ORECA 07-Gibson proved fastest with a time of 1:35:456. Four more ORECA 07-Gibsons followed: DragonSpeed's #21 driven by Ben Hanley, APR-Rebellion Racing's #31 driven by Gustavo Menezes (also a Rebellion Racing LMP1 driver in the World Endurance Championship), Duqueine Engineeering's #29 driven by Nelson Panciatici and G-Drive Racing's #26 driven by Jean-Eric Vergne. The first Ligier JS P217, United Autosport's #22, qualified in sixth position.

Two red flags interrupted the session: the first for a car slowed on the track and the second after an incident for Algarve Pro Racing's #25 Ligier JS P217 at the Parabolica corner late in the session.

In LMP3, the order changed lap after lap, demonstrating the highly competitive level of the class. Former 24 Hours of Le Mans driver Mathieu Lahaye at the wheel of his #17 Norma M30-Nissan clocked the fastest time this afternoon, scoring the pole at the last second ahead of Yvan Muller Racing's #19 Norma M30-Nissan driven by David Droux and AT Racing's #9 Ligier JS P3. Only two-tenths of a second separate the three cars!

Riccardo Pera at the wheel of Italian team Ebimotors' #80 Porsche 911 RSR will start from pole position in the LMGTE class ahead of Gianmaria Bruni in Proton Competition's #88 Porsche 911 RSR and Andrea Bertolini in Krohn Racing's #83 Ferrari 488 GTE. Winner of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans Marc Lieb clocked the fifth fastest time at the wheel of the #77 Porsche 911 RSR. Only five cars participated in the session after JMW Motorsport's #66 Ferrari 488 GTE had an incident this morning at the second free practice.

The start of the race will be given at 12:30 p.m. local time (11:30 a.m. in the U.K.) on Sunday, May 13th.
