ELMS – IDEC Sport wins the 4 Hours of Silverstone

There was plenty of action at the fourth round of the European Le Mans Series, the 4 Hours of Silverstone, as competitors battled it out on both a wet and dry track, and with leader changes through the final minutes of the race.

The 4 Hours of Silverstone, fourth round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), was full of surprises and twists from start to finish. A few minutes after the start, a sudden downpour forced teams to return to the pits, shaking up the starting grid order. The race saw the deployment of the safety car several times as well as Full Course Yellows, and a few dust-ups, including Cool Racing's #37 and Duqueine Engineering's #30.

In the LMP2 class, a final pit stop in the last minutes for G-Drive Racing's #26 cost the team its third win of the season, in favour of IDEC Sport's #28 ORECA 07 driven by Rojas-Chatin-Lafargue. In LMP3, post-chequered flag penalties allowed EuroInternational's #11 to win the class ahead of Inter Europol Competition #13. The top 3 in LMGTE went to the #88 Porsche 911 RSR ahead of Kessel Racing's two Ferrari F488s (the #83 then the #60). The all-female driver line-up sharing the #83 (Gostner-Frey-Gatting) clinched its second podium finish of the season.

The Spa-Francorchamps round coming up on 22 September is the penultimate race of the 2019 ELMS season.
