ELMS – G-Drive Racing wins the 4 Hours of Monza

G-Drive Racing has won its first victory of the 2019 European Le Mans Series season with the Aurus 01 ORECA-Gibson .

It's always a good idea to expect the unexpected in endurance racing, and the 4 Hours of Monza - second round of the 2019 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) season - was no exception.

At the finish line, only two seconds separated the winner from second place after 135 laps and four hours of racing. The top step on the podium was ultimately claimed by G-Drive Racing thanks to Nato-Rusinov-van Uitert at the wheel of their Aurus 01 ORECA-Gibson, ahead of IDEC SPORT Racing's ORECA 07-Gibson driven by Chatin-Lafargue-Rojas. During the podium ceremony, Roman Rusinov was delighted with this first win of the 2019 ELMS season and is now turning his focus to the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15-16 June.

In LMP3, down but not out after Saturday's crash, EuroInternational and the #11 Ligier JSP3 shared by Petersen and Jensen triumphed on Sunday against all odds, and Dempsey-Proton Racing's #77 Porsche driven by Ried-Pera-Cairoli won the LMGTE class.

The next round of the European Le Mans Series is set for 20 July in Barcelona, but some ELMS competitors are first heading to the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15-16 June.
