ELMS - Algarve Pro Racing (Ligier) back in 2017

Algarve Pro Racing have announced their return to the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) in LM P2 this season. The Portugal-based team are also looking forward to racing the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 17–18 June.

Last weekend, Algarve Pro Racing received the team of the year prize for their participation in the Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS). Team leaders Stewart and Samantha Cox are running another European Le Mans Series campaign with the new Ligier JS P217 and have already selected recent ALMS winner Andrea Roda to be part of their line-up. Last year the team finished ninth in the ELMS LM P2 team championship, their best result of the season being fifth place at the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring (Austria) with Andrea Pizzitola, Jonathan Hirschi and Michael Munemann at the wheel.

The ALMS title earns the team an invitation to the next 24 Hours of Le Mans. Last year, drivers Andrea Pizzitola, Chris Hoy and Michael Munemann finished 12th in class with the #25 Ligier JS P2 in what was Algarve Pro Racing’s first experience of the race. The full list of competitors for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the ELMS and the World Endurance Championship will be announced at a special press conference in Paris on Thursday 2 February.

Algarve Pro Racing will follow up their European season with another ALMS campaign, fielding two Ligier JS P2 in LM P2.
