Asian LMS - United Autosports (Ligier) pole-sitter at Fuji

During qualifying at the 4 Hours of Fuji, United Autosports' newcomer Phil Hanson clinched pole position, the first of his career in endurance racing.

Pipo Derani (Spirit of Race's #8 Ligier JS P2-Nissan) was unable to secure a second consecutive pole position. The Brazilian driver qualified in third position, his efforts thwarted by Phil Hanson at the wheel of United Autosports' #22 Ligier JS P2-Nissan with the fastest time of 1:31.685, followed by defending European Le Mans Series champion Andrea Pizzitola driving Algarve Pro Racing's #24 Ligier JS P2-Judd (all within five-tenths of a second).

In LMP3, Nigel Moore (Niza Racing's Ligier JS P3/Viper) took the pole after making his mark at the Shanghai round. The British driver qualified ahead of two other Ligiers: the #2 (United Autosports) driven by Garret Grist, and the #79 fielded by Ecurie Ecosse/Nielsen Racing. The winner in China, Europol Competition's #13 Ligier JS P3 clocked the fifth fastest time.

In GT, Ferrari pulled off a one-two thanks to James Calado at the wheel of Car Guy's #11 488 GT3, good news for the team competing at home. Alessandro Pier Guidi at the wheel of Spirit of Race's #51 488 GT3 will flank the car, meaning two champions from the GTE world will share the front row, followed by the two Audi R8 LMS GT3s fielded by Tianshi Racing Team.
