A Corvette Redline for the 6 Hours of Shanghai

For its first official race on Asian soil, the Corvette C7.R will sport the colours of the Redline series at the 6 Hours of Shanghai on 18 November.

The next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship – the 6 Hours of Shanghai, to be held on 16–18 November – will see Corvette Racing make its official bow on the Asian stage. To mark the occasion, the #64 Redline/Mobil 1 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R will boast a silver livery with striking red and black touches reminiscent of the special-edition Redline series that was successfully launched in China in 2017.

In the photographs revealed by the team today, the C7.R packs an exciting, sporty look as drivers Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner agree. “I’ve driven three generations of Corvette – C5-R, C6.R and C7.R – all in yellow,” Gavin said. “To see it now in the Redline livery is fantastic. It’s cool, it’s new and it’s sharp. Certainly looking out over the hood for the first time when it’s silver and not yellow is something to get used to. The crowd in Shanghai certainly will be taken aback by seeing a Corvette in the Redline livery! It’ll be great for us and great for the fans.” Teammate Milner added: “It was a big surprise to walk out and see our Corvette in the silver Redline livery. It’s a really sporty look. I think we’re both excited to drive a Corvette in something other than yellow!”

Chevrolet and Endurance is something of a tradition. The C1 was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960, placing eighth overall. The team has competed non-stop since its new generation of Corvette appeared in 1999, notching up a total of 107 wins, including eight at Le Mans, 13 IMSA Team titles, and 12 Manufacturer and Driver crowns.

In Shanghai, Corvette will take on Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Aston Martin and Ford in the LM GTE category.
