24H Motos – Pierre Fillon to make an appearance at the 2019 8 Hours of Suzuka

A symbol of the partnership between Le Mans and Suzuka, linking the 24H Motos and the 8 Hours of Suzuka - two of the top races in the FIM Endurance World Championship - the trophy for the best performing European team at the Japanese classic will be awarded on Sunday by ACO President Pierre Fillon.

On Sunday after the 8 Hours of Suzuka - the last round of the 2018-2019 FIM Endurance World Championship season - a new trophy will go to the top performing and most-deserving European team at the Japanese race. The trophy, shaped like the Bugatti circuit in Le Mans at which is held the 24H Motos, will be awarded by Pierre Fillon, the president of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest.

The trophy is a symbol of the friendly partnership established a few months ago between Le Mans and Suzuka, two motorsport and endurance racing standard-bearers. At this year's running of the 24H Motos in April, a special Suzuka Trophy was awarded to the F.C.C. TSR Honda France team, and on 28 July, the Le Mans Trophy will reward a European team's performance. The partnership is also reflected through visible references of both flagship races at the two circuits. For example, "24H Motos" is clearly highlighted along the track during the 8 Hours of Suzuka. The next running of the 24H Motos will take place 18-19 April 2020. Tickets go on sale 8 October 2019.

ACO President Pierre Fillon: "Like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the 8 Hours of Suzuka, the first edition of which took place in 1978, respects tradition all while developing modern innovation, and it also respects competitors and spectators. This is why our Le Mans/Suzuka partnership makes sense and we look forward to making advancements together. We share the same values, the same vision of competition and its evolution."
