24 Hours of Le Mans Test Day – Red flag brings morning session to early end

The fourth hour had barely begun when the session was suspended following an accident. Toyota and Rebellion retain their places at the top of the standings.

The morning session of Test Day still had an hour to run when an accident involving the #95 Aston Martin driven by Marco Sorensen forced Race Control to suspend the action. The standings therefore remain unchanged since the third hour round-up with Toyota and Rebellion sharing the top four places. Fernando Alonso has made a successful start to his Le Mans adventure with the best time at the wheel of the #8 Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid in 3:21.468. Thomas Laurent managed to get his #3 Rebellion R13-Gibson to within 0.36 seconds of Alonso’s mark. Despite a very fast time from Mike Conway, the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid is still behind the Swiss car. The top three cars are all within a second of each other which promises exciting battles ahead!

In LMP2, the leading trio is made up of three Oreca 07-Gibsons. The #26 car of G-Drive Racing stands top of the timesheets ahead of the #48 IDEC Sport entry and the #31 car from DragonSpeed. In LMGTE Pro, the Ford GTs soon showed they were particularly quick with the four cars claiming the four fastest times, with the #67 fielded by Chip Ganassi Team UK leading the way. The Clearwater Racing #61 Ferrari 488 GTE comfortably held on to top spot in the LMGTE Am class.

The red flag bringing the morning to a premature end, the afternoon session will start 30 minutes earlier than scheduled, at 13:30.
