24 Hours of Le Mans - Hour 4 Recap

The fourth hour of racing at Le Mans has brought a good bit of drama as one of the Porsche LMP1 Hybrids has been pushed into the garage.

LMP1

While Kamui Kobayashi continues to lead in the #7 Toyota by 36 seconds over the #1 Porsche (Tandy), the #8 Toyota (Davidson) has some breathing room, because the #2 Porsche (Bamber) has been pushed into the garage. The team is trying to address a loss of drive to the front axle.

LMP2

The Vaillante Rebellion teams continues to lead the way in LMP2, so much so, that driver David Heinemeier Hansson (#13 ORECA) had a spin on his own and didn’t lose the lead to teammate Julien Canal (#31 ORECA).

The #37 Jackie Chan DC Racing ORECA had been hanging onto third in class, but has been bumped by the #24 CEFC Manor TRS Racing ORECA in the hands of Jonathan Hirschi.

LMGTE Pro

Aston Martin now has a chink in it’s armor; while leading, the #95 (Sorensen) suffered a puncture while entering the Mulsanne straight. A long, long trip back to pit lane had dropped him down to last in class.

Now it’s the #66 Ford of Billy Johnson that leads, followed by the #97 Aston Martin (Adam) and another Ford (#67 Derani).

LMGTE Am

It’s the same players at the top of the LMGTE Am category: Ferrari and Aston Martin. Mathias Lauda (#98 Aston Martin) leads Dries Vanthoor (#84 Ferrari) with Cooper MacNeil third (#62 Ferrari).
