24 Hours of Le Mans – G-DRIVE Racing (LMP2)

This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans sees a record number of entrants on the grid. We take a look at the 43 teams behind the 62 cars in the field. Here we give you the lowdown on LMP2 team G-Drive Racing.

Team: G-Drive Racing

Class: LMP2

Car and Drivers:

#26 Aurus 01-Gibson

Roman Rusinov (9 participations, 3rd in LMP2 in 2015, 2nd in LMP2 in 2016)
Job van Uitert (rookie, 2018 ELMS LMP3 champion)
Jean-Eric Vergne (2 participations, 2017-2018 Formula E champion,  Formula One Scuderia Toro Rosso driver 2012-14)

Team Achievements:

Founded in 2012, the Russian team has seven Le Mans 24 Hours runs to its name. However, despite their speed, its cars have yet to mount the podium. The team’s ELMS campaigns have been more successful (LMP2 champions in 2015, 2016 and 2017).

Team Goals at the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans:

G-Drive Racing is looking to triumph at Le Mans. Improving reliability rather than relying on pure speed might be the way to dodge the pitfalls of the circuit and achieve that goal. A mistake-free run is the minimum requirement. It’s the only way to a class win.
