24 Hours of Le Mans - A street named Bentley

In a ceremony held this afternoon, the street that leads to the main gate of the circuit was renamed “rue des Bentley Boys” as a tribute to the British marque and its drivers of the 1920s.

The street sign was unveiled by mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll, ACO board member Gilles Huttepain who was representing Pierre Fillon and Brian Gush, head of Bentley Motorsport.

The ceremony continued in the neighbouring 24 Hours of Le Mans museum where attendees admired the Bentleys that triumphed in the race in 1924 and 2003. In his speech, Brian Gush emphasised the strong ties between Bentley and Le Mans and the role that the race had played in building the brand’s reputation. And of course, he payed homage to the all-conquering Bentley Boys who reigned supreme in the 1920s: John Duff, Frank Clement, Dudley Benjafield, Sammy Davis, Woolf Barnato, Bernard Rubin, Henry Birkin and Glen Kidston.
