Trackside entertainment plays a big part in the very special atmosphere at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the ACO selects bands with widespread appeal for the evening concerts. Previous years have seen the likes of Jamiroquai, Texas, Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Charlie Winston, Julian Perretta, Shaka Ponk, Razorlight and Alpha Blondy entertain race fans.

Having made their international breakthrough in 2004 with the hit Take Me OutFranz Ferdinand released their fifth studio album, Always Ascendinglast year. Produced by talented Frenchman Philippe Zdar (Cassius, Phoenix, Beastie Boys) and recorded at the RAK studios in London and Motorbass in Paris, the ten-track album is a new sonic experience, brimming with vibrant ideas.

The mutual affection between musicians and producer is evident throughout, resulting in a “futuristic, yet natural sound” in the words of frontman Alex Kapranos. Always Ascending sees Franz Ferdinand as exuberant as ever, euphoric even. Le Mans stands ready to be taken by storm.

The concert is included in the price of a 24 Hours of Le Mans ticket valid on Saturday 15 June. Under 16s go free when accompanied by a paying adult.
