Two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Romain Dumas chooses a Norma for Pikes Peak

The French driver, who will represent Alpine in LMP2 at this year's edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will go after a third victory at Pikes Peak in Colorado with a Norma MXX, fresh off completing its first laps.

After scoring its first win in the LMP3 class at the ELMS round at Monza last week, Norma - one of the six constructors approved to supply LMP3 prototype chassis - presented the MXX with which Romain Dumas will attempt, with his own team RD Limited, to claim the top step on the podium for a third time at Pikes Peak, one of the most famous hillclimb races in the world.

Entered in the Unlimited class for the "climb to the clouds," the engineers seemingly mined unlimited imagination when designing the Norma MXX with its distinctively fierce and modern look. In preparation for the hillclimb, Romain Dumas has recently been running the car in Alès, France.

Though he will not be defending his World Endurance Champion title, nor his overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as he will not be at the wheel of the #1 Porsche 919 Hybrid, the French driver has been lent out by the German marque and will attempt to add a win in the LMP2 class to his record, this time with Signatech Alpine's #36 Alpine A470 he will share with Gustavo Menezes (LMP2 winner at the 24 Hours in 2016) and Matt Rao on June 18th.

In addition to his two overall victories at Le Mans, in 2010 with Audi and in 2016 with Porsche, the French driver who finished eighth at the last Dakar also won the LMGTE Pro class with Porsche at the 2013 24 Hours along with Marc Lieb, his co-winner last year (with Neel Jani), and Richard Lietz.
