Tom Kristensen, nine-time Le Mans winner, at the Race of Champions

This year for the first time ever, the Race of Champions will take place January 21st and 22nd in Miami, Florida, at the Marlins baseball stadium. For the 15th time, nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen will compete for the win.

Though in 18 participations at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Tom Kristensen has won nine times, a 50% success rate, the Dane is still looking for a first individual victory at the Race of Champions, an annual gathering of drivers from various motorsports disciplines.

Qualified four times for the finale, Tom "Mr. Le Mans" Kristensen has always bowed out though he has won two Nations Cups for Scandinavia, a binomial event. The last time he won, in 2015, he competed for Team Nordic, like this year, with the 2003 World Rally Champion and Rallycross Champion in 2014 and 2015, Petter Solberg.

For the first leg of the competition, this Sunday now-retired Tom Kristensen and Petter Solberg will take on the British team of Jenson Button, F1 World Champion in 2009, and David Coulthard, present at the 1993 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the German team led by four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel between 2010 and 2013, as well as Pascal Wehrlein, Sauber driver in F1 and DTM champion (German super touring) in 2015.

For the individual race on Saturday, January 21st, the Audi ambassador will meet Kurt Busch, 2004 NASCAR champion, former F1 driver David Coulthard and James Hinchcliffe, Indianapolis 500 poleman last year.

In the meantime, Tom Kristensen keeps in shape by cycling with Jenson Button in Florida!
