The all-new Oreca 07 LM P2 tested by Nicolas Lapierre at Le Castellet

Yesterday Oreca gave us our first glimpse of its latest prototype, shortly followed by pictures of the Oreca 07 on the track at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France. It is being put to the test there by Nicolas Lapierre, victor in the LM P2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the past two years.

The technical regulations for the LM P2 class have been redefined for 2017. Only four appointed constructors, including Oreca, are now able to deliver cars to client teams, while Gibson Technology is the sole engine supplier.

Onroak Automotive showed off the Ligier JS P217 in the paddock when the European Le Mans Series stopped off at Spa-Francorchamps and now Oreca has followed suit, taking the wraps off its latest creation. The car is currently at the Le Castellet circuit, a stone’s throw away from Oreca’s headquarters, where it is being tested by Nicolas Lapierre, two-time LM P2 winner and reigning champion at Le Mans, first for Chinese team Hong Kong KCMG, then with Signatech Alpine,

The French driver, who currently leads the FIA Endurance Trophy for LM P2 Drivers in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), is no newcomer to Oreca, having won the 12 Hours of Sebring with them (Peugeot 908) and co-drivers Loïc Duval and Olivier Panis in 2011.
