IMSA - Presentation of the race at Lime Rock

The eighth of 12 races on the 2016 calendar, on July 22nd and 23rd the Lime Rock circuit located in Connecticut will be the scene of a round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in which only certain classes participate.

Unlike the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, the one used for the Northeast Grand Prix is extremely short (1.5 miles or 2.4 km) and only has...seven corners! That is the reason only three of the four classes (the Prototype class will be absent) will race next weekend, but with 32 competitors on the track, traffic management will be one of the keys to success.

With only seven Formula Le Mans, the race will be dominated by GTs and as is often the case in the American championship sanctioned by the IMSA, the battle will be tighter and more fierce in the GTLM class (GT Le Mans), the name given to the overseas LM GTE. After two wins at the first two rounds of the season, the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, Corvette Racing has been dominated by the Ford GTs, one model of which won in its class at the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 50 years to the date after the American marque's first victory at Le Mans.

The start of the Northeast Grand Prix, lasting two hours and 40 minutes, will be given on Saturday, July 23rd at 3:05 p.m. local time or 8:05 p.m. in the U.K. You can watch the race live and in full on the FOX network for American residents and on the championship's official website for all other fans.
