Fringe events – "Arnage dans la course" offers an exciting program

For the fourth year in a row, the "Arnage dans la course" event will take place on Thursday of the big week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and this edition will pay tribute to Henri Pescarolo and Matra.

"Arnage dans la course" is an event that gets bigger and bigger with each passing year, and 2017 will be no exception to the rule. This year's program looks to be just as fun as always: expositions of racing cars, automobile parade, former drivers sharing their stories, plenty to please even die-hard fans of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The association's president, Pascal Cossa: "Our event has become increasingly well-known and compelling. This year we created an association in order to provide ourselves with some structure. There are about a dozen members who work at putting this event together. Our goal is also to fulfill the expectations of our institutional sponsors."

For 2017, "Arnage dans la course" wanted to pay tribute to Henri Pescarolo (33 participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and four wins). "Henri is a 24 Hours and Matra legend," says Pascal Cossa. The event will include an exhibition of all the cars (1/43rd scale) with which he participated in the mythical race. 24 Hours of Le Mans themed drawings by young school children from Arnage will also be on display.

The cars set to take part in the exposition will take your breath away. "Through the presence of many models of Matras, we will highlight how the French marque entered into competition. The Pescarolo 001 and 002 will also be on display and the official presentation of the 004 and 005 will take place the same day," describes the head of the organization. Joining these models will be the Ford GT40, Cobra Daytona, AC Cobra, Porsche 356, Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari Dino and Corvettes, from the C1 to the C7. "We are expecting 150 cars," adds Pascal Cossa.

Taking part in the event will be VdeV driver Antoine Robert, his father Lionel and drivers who have shared the wheel with Henri Pescarolo himself. Miss 24 Heures-Le Maine Libre will also be in attendance.
