Ford launches a virtual reality app that includes the win at Le Mans

Yesterday Ford released its first virtual reality app in the U.S. which allows fans to immerse themselves in the Ford GT's adventure at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, at which it won in the LM GTE Pro class 50 years to the day after the Ford GT40's first victory at Le Mans.

Thanks to virtual reality which uses 360° cameras, you can imagine yourself at the 24 Hours all while sitting comfortably in your favourite chair miles away from Le Mans. As described by American driver Joey Hand - one of the three winning drivers with Le Mans native Sébastien Bourdais and the German Dirk Müller - the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is represented with stunning realism, both in terms of images and sound.

The app can be downloaded in the U.S. on your mobile iOS or Android device, with no need for a virtual reality headset to be able to enjoy the 360° images. If you do not live in the U.S., you can still check out the video on YouTube! And yes, pit lane is still a straight, so if you see a right angle it means your web browser will not allow you to view a 360° video, and so you will need to download the latest version of the Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer!
