ELMS - Villorba Corse (Dallara) in LM P2 next year with Le Mans in its crosshairs

After two seasons in the LM P3 class in the European Le Mans Series, the Villorba Corse outfit, whose goal is to take the start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will come one step closer in 2017 by entering the new Dallara in the LM P2 class.

Spearheaded by Roberto Lacorte since 2015, the Villorba Corse team created in 1992 is focusing on a "Road to Le Mans" project with the aim of earning an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Utilizing the endurance pyramid put in place by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the outfit helmed by Raimondo Amadio made its debut in LM P3 in the European championship, with two promising podium finishes during the season.

This year, with around 20 comptitors on the track in LM P3, Villorba Corse has had its difficulties with the Ligier JS P3, but Roberto Lacorte has been gaining experience and will move into LM P2 next year with a Dallara. The Italian marque is among the constructors approved to develop LM P2 prototypes compliant with the new technical regulations going into effect in 2017.

Roberto Lacorte, driver: "This year we are able to confirm our 2017 racing programme earlier than usual. We are pleased to announce our ELMS effort with the debuting Dallara LMP2 car. Main goal still remains a future participation in the Le Mans 24 Hours with a very well prepared team based on the values of Italian excellence. Enthusiasm, passion, tradition and Italian high technology are the main features of our project and, personally, this new challenge is incredibly exciting."
