ELMS - two competitors secure a place on the grid at the next 24 Hours of Le Mans

Now that the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps results are in, we know which ELMS teams will be invited to the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year.

United Autosports and JMW Motorsport have won their tickets to Le Mans in 2017.

Anglo-American team United Autosports won the LM P3 class in a hard-fought battle against 17 opponents. With a race still to run at Estoril, they can already begin to savour the thought of taking part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The invitation is valid for LM P2 or LM GTE Am.

The ELMS LM GTE title will be a battle right to the line between JMW Motorsport and Aston Martin Racing. However, the British team is assured of first or second place and can therefore claim an invitation to Le Mans in the LM GTE Am class, a fitting reward for their excellent season with the Ferrari 458 Italia. Andrea Bertolini, Rory Butcher and Rob Smith won Spa-Francorchamps for the third time in succession, confirming their tremendous form this season.

Several other teams are also sure of their place on the grid at the next 24 Hours of Le Mans, having won their classes in this year’s race:

Porsche Team: LM P1
Signatech Alpine: LM P2
Ford Chip Ganassi Team USA: LM GTE Pro
Scuderia Corsa: LM GTE Am

Official invitations will be issued to the teams if the winning car is entered for either the Asian Le Mans Series, European Le Mans Series or IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2017.
