ELMS - A unique initiative for IDEC Sport Racing's Ligier livery

The IDEC Sport Racing team joined the LM P2 class in the European Le Mans Series last year and is getting ready to compete in a new season of the European championship in 2017 with a Ligier JS P217 whose livery was designed by the winner of a contest.

The IDEC company, a real estate firm whose sporting branch is mainly known in sailing circles - it sponsored the vessel helmed by Francis Joyon in his efforts to win the Jules Verne trophy for a trip around the world by a sailing crew - has also been present in endurance racing since last year and more specifically in the European Le Mans Series.

Though the Ligier JS P2-Judd finished in 10th place at the final race of the European season at Estoril, driver and president of the IDEC company Patrice Lafargue has confirmed higher ambitions for 2017 (read the interview). With that in mind, the team based in France has brought on Olivier Pla, official Ford driver and fourth in the LM GTE Pro class at the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans, to support Patrice Lafargue and his son Paul in the new Ligier JS P217, compliant with the new technical LM P2 regulations in effect since January 1st.

This past December, IDEC Sport Racing launched a contest on its Facebook page for the livery design of the car that will hit the European circuits, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans if its invitation request is granted by the Selection Committee. There was only one prerequisite: respect the color palette of the team, meaning white, red and black. After having narrowed it down to 27 designs, the team chose the livery proposed by Victor Vullo, who won two tickets to the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans.
